You could very well get a bud or two on them. These should be pinched off to encourage the roses to concentrate on root growth. I'm never able to do this myself. I always want to see what it looks like. I do pinch them off once I've had one bloom.

Most of my bands bloom the spring after the fall I plant them. I don't pinch off the buds either. Some of my once bloomers haven't bloomed the first year, and the repeat bloomers don't repeat as much until they get bigger.

I had three bands of the Barrone last year and none of them bloomed. They all have bloomed this year (they are in the ground). Other band I've had have bloomed.

I always let my bands bloom so that I'm sure I got what I ordered. Once bloomers most likely won't even get buds, but don't worry about that, they will next year. I've had a few..Matangi comes to mind..that were very vigorous as baby bands, and I just let them bloom, and it did no harm. If it's small, pinch all but the one bud all summer..(to be sure it's what you ordered)..if it's vigorous..play it by ear..you have a much longer growing season than I do, but on the other hand, water may be a problem in your area, if it is..pinch back. It probably depends on the variety. Hettie and Awakening bloomed in their pots. Hettie rapidly grew way beyond a band. The others are sluggish.

I think I wouldn't normally buy bands unless it was the only way or an exceptional outlet you know you will send you quality plants. It takes them too long to do much. Except Hettie.

There seems to be a fine line between bands and some young roses like my Graham Thomas last year and my two Reine des Violettes this year. The latter weren't in very good shape when they arrived yesterday, but they will replace them if they don't come round by fall which is nice. I wanted them so badly, I'm willing to accept them as they are, and I wanted ones from that particular seller because not all are predictably the same even if they are named the same. IMHO.

The Crepuscule just sprouted a 5-inch tuft in a few days, pretty much doubling in size, lol. The General has just started a new growth. Baronne has gotten just slightly bigger.

I also got a beautiful Fantin-Latour 1-gal from RV and it is doing great. It has blooms and new growth all over. I also got an Alberic Barbier, but it is growing fast !!! It was the others that seemed to be a little slower getting going.

I forgot to ask - how is the spotting on the Baronnes, buford? RV listed it as "resistant", but BS is pretty bad here.

Well, I had them in pots last year and early this year. I did spray, but early this spring they did get BS. I normally spray regularly, so it's not a problem for me. But I don't know if I'd describe them as resistant.

I was afraid of that. She's clean now, so I'll watch. Resistant may mean different things to different people :) ...

The bands I just rcvd from Vintage had buds when they arrived. Most I'm allowing to bloom to verify the plant but Raubritta was chewed off by a rabbit the day I planted it. Far enough down that I'm turning it into a cutting.
