Hydraulic line location on JD 2305 vs Kubota BX2350

I am considering purchasing either a JD 2305 or a Kubota BX2350 Compact Tractor. I will be using both a FEL as well as a mid-mount mower of 60". When I looked at the BX, I see that the hydraulic line connections are up on the side of the tractor in a nice neat line. But when I looked at the JD 2305, I see that the hydraulic lines are connected under the foot platform and drape down a bit before they then make their way up to the FEL. This seems to me that these hydraulic lines would get in the way of the mid-mount mower. Do I have to disconnect the FEL each time I use the mower? Is this a problem? Or am I just being neurotic?

You do have to disconnect the mower hyraulic hose and connect a single fel hose to use the loader. You can't raise or lower the mower deck with all of the fel hoses attached and can't use the mower with the fel operational.
Great idea eh?
But my 2 week old JD 2305 is broken for the second time and waiting for parts now. I didn't want to mow anyway.

Where are you getting your informaton from anyway? I think you just got your panties all tied up in a not from haveing some issues with your new purchase. Sh!t happens sometimes so deal with it like an adult instead of making stuff up.

To michellel, there is not an issue with the hydraulic lines they way they are. Have the dealer demonstrate on the lot for you so you can see for yourself...

I think the LA series are very well built and if they aren't abused and are maintained will provide many years of service. They are not like the deeres of old but what is made like the days of old these days? not too many things. I took a LA165 home and used the 30 day promise to trade up to a x320 and am glad I did only due to having 3.5 acres of hills and inclines and I didn't think the LA series was enough tractor. I pull a 850lb yard roller and it's effortless and I weigh 240lbs with 90lbs of ballast in the tires. I think the john deere quality shows in all of their series but you can't compare them to the deeres of the past it's not a fair comparison. I spoke to several of the techs from several dealerships that said they have not seen a x320 in for tranny service in forever if that helps.

reply by theodocus struck me as coming from the desk of the ad agency of MTD. No mention of the actual operation that involves rolling over uneven terrain and jarring action from bumps and uneven spots and the fragile fabricated axles that bend and crack easily. Oh, there is also the bushings used in place of ball bearings: bushing use requires higher horsepower to move the newer units. The Deere has points and condenser; cost $5.00 and 9.00 respectively and the sears is a solid state igntion. Newer technology is wonderful as long as it is coupled with quality assemblage in a product. I have a 1968 Sears GARDEN tractor with a 12HP Tecumseh Heavy duty cast iron engine with ball bearings and cut with a 42 inch deck and also have a 1976 John Deere GARDEN tractor with a cast iron 10 HP engine with ball bearings and cut with a 42" deck and use both alternately for mowing two acres and for tilling and moving earth, etc.. Each has cast iron axles and mutli-speed hi-lo transmissions and EACH is used for plowing, snowblowing, tilling earth, hauling 1100 lb loads in attached large carts. EACH will run circles around the new 20 plus HP light LAWN tractors made today. Spend 5,000.00 and you will have a comparable heavy duty GARDEN tractor. By the way, good luck on getting even 10 years of use with the new wonders.

Well I don't have a JD 2520 but I do have a new New Holland TZ25DA and have roughly that same tasks in mind that you mentioned except I do use mine for mowing. Without getting into green, orange and blue debates here is what I found. Any one of these sub-compact tractors with full cat 1 hitches can do almost any task you ask of them. They have wildly powerful engines, traction that you can't believe and actually are amazing fuel efficient. In the first 16 hours of operation of my new holland I have used about 5 gallons of diesel. When buying mine I looked extensively at the 2305 and 2520. I really liked the larger tires, folding rops and smooth yanmar on the 2520. The 1000lbs + on the 3 point hitch and the Front end loader where also very nice. I didn't like that lack of visibility on the loader / bucket though. I also have owned a JD LT for the last 5 years and was pretty sure that I would end up with either a 2305 or 2520. Well, I didn't. Stopped by the local Kubota / NH dealer and started looking at lots of orange. Price-wise Kubota is a very good value compared to what JD charges although feature wise the JD offered more. Also the BX 2350 doesn't really match up with the 2520 (although a larger B series does). I ended up with a New Holland because the ergonomics are great, the loader / bucket you can see, it has more capacity then the comparable BX2350 / JD2302 but still isn't quite a large as the 2520. I did look at the NH TC26DA which is a little bigger than the 2520 but just was too big for my needs. I also liked the New Holland's sensitrak (automatic 4 wd), 25 HP engine that was smoother / quieter IMO and also for me the mower deck was hands down nicer than the green and orange equivalents. The deal sealer for me was the 0% for 60 months that New Holland had in June. These things are not cheap so every little bit helps. I also didn't have the greatest experience at the JD dealership and the dealer I bought my New Holland from was amazing. Regardless of what you buy, make sure YOU get WHAT you WANT... Given that your going to probably spend $14000 or so; if your wife's like mine, you'll not be getting another one next year!! Also check out www.tractorbynet.com as they are another great resource. I thought I received some sound advice on this board, and I still think so. If advice given here is worthless, then there is no reason for me to post or read messages here - including your own. Yes, I am inexperienced, but it does not mean I cannot learn. I did research however I could, and read several books about tractors. One of them (Antique Tractor Bible, by Spencer Yost), has a very good and detailed chapter on safety. As I get older, I am getting more and more aware of my mortality and vulnerability, and I certainly will not do anything to endanger myself or those around me! I also know a local farmer, and will certainly receive "training" on working with a tractor and implements before I move to Colorado next year. That being said, you are certainly right in thinking new machines are much safer than antique tractors, even though I don't think there will be much difference, if any, between buying from a dealer a used three or four year old tractor or a new one. As for the local tractor dealers, I want to believe they would steer me towards the machine that fits my needs, but I don't think that's a given. Too many times I have seen dealers, selling whatever they are selling, steer potential buyers towards what will make the dealer the best profit, and not necessarily what is best for the customer. If you tell me tractor dealers are different, I really want to believe that! I am lucky in that I can afford to buy a new tractor, and I might end up doing that, but I will certainly consider a used tractor, modern or old, with the knowledge I would have to be extra careful with an antique tractor which lacks the safety features of new machinery.

I have the BX2200 which has the same hydraulics as the BX2350. Those hydraulic quick connections at the side of the tractor are so you can easily attach and detach the FEL. It take about 5 minutes to do it.

The mid mount mower has nothing to do with it. It is completely unaffected by attaching or using the FEL. You can attach or detach and use the mower and the FEL at the same time, or either one without the other, in any combination.

Of course can mow and use and the FEL at the same time. It would be pretty ridiculous if you could not do that. In fact I mow grass with the FEL attached all the time. When mowing I tow a lawn sweeper behind the tractor, and after I dump the grass clipping in front of the compost heap, I use the FEL to shovel the clippings onto the compost and mix it into the pile.

I can also attach and detach the mower and the FEL independently of each other, and use either one with or without using the other. Of course you would want to do this. After all, they are two independent attachments on different parts of the tractor aren't they?

LB,

Did you finally take your FEL and BH off while you mow? As of a few months ago, you'd never taken them off and were mowing with both attached on your BX23.

Maybe now you can buy a tiller and front blade for that BX...

You DO NOT have to detach anything to use either the FEL or the MMM or the BH for that matter on the 2305. Now you could get into a discussion of why you would want to mow with all that extra weight up high, although I do admit to using the FEL with the MMM attached quite often. Both the BX and the 2305 are excellent sub-CUT tractors. Have you test driven them? If it were me, it would come down to the ergonomics I liked best and the strength of the dealer.

I mow with the FEL attached to my BX2200 too. It's a lot more convenient than detaching it every time you mow the lawn. I use it during the mowing job too, I dump grass clippings on the compost heap and spread them around with the FEL.
