Antique rose IDs

Anybody know what this pink rose is?

It grows on a rather compact bush, about 24" tall and wide. It is mildly fragrant with blooms about 3-4" wide. It's was planted in the 1940s at the very latest, so it's definitely not a new cultivar. It's too early in the season for me to know for sure, but I think it's a repeat bloomer (I was too busy having a baby last summer to pay attention!). It's growing next to a white rose tentatively IDed as a Madame Hardy.

The white is also fragrant with smaller blossoms a maximum of 2" in diameter. It's much taller than the pink with canes about 8' long. I believe it only blooms once for a couple of weeks. Maybe I shouldn't admit this on a gardening forum, but neither of these plants have been maintained for a decade or longer - no fertilizer or pruning or deadheading. Anybody know what these are or have any tips to maximize the blooms?

The open pink bloom looks like Katy Road Pink aka Carefree Beauty.

The white looks like Mme. Hardy. Does it have a green center?

The pink would be an HT. You might look through the VG website for early HTs. It looks a little like my yellow Talisman I had in CA; I wonder if it could be the cerise sport of that famous rose?

You should post this on the Antique Rose forum. A photo would be helpful. If you cannot post a photo, desribe in more detail. Single blossoms? multiple bunches? How large. Describe thorns. It is not Fimbriata, which is white, with a hint of pink at most, and is a Rugosa, which does not have small leaves.

Just so you know, the reason why you are having trouble telling apart 'Comte de Chambord', 'Mme Boll', and 'Mme Knorr' is that (in most cases) the same rose is being grown under all three names. Some have commented that there is a difference with what some nurseries offer as 'Mme Knorr', but it's pretty much agreed that if you buy 'Comte de Chambord' from one nursery and 'Mme Boll' from another, you'll have two of the same rose. :-) ~Christopher

ID for antique rose found growing in the "wild"?

I collected this one in Mcminn County, Tennessee. Climber. It is carefree as they come, originally found growing at the edge of the woods. The best rose for the area that I've come across (Deserves the "Earthkind" label...). Sweetly fragrant. I originally thought 'Seven Sisters' because of the color mutability, but upon closer consideration, it is not a multiflora hybrid. I have a similar pink Gallica that was found in Toronto, Canada about 25 years ago. There, it grew to a maximum height of 18". Here in western Oregon it grows five feet tall. In Toronto, my 'Tuscany Superb' was typically 3.5 to 4 feet tall, but here in Oregon it rarely exceeds 20 inches. Its not a good idea to use height as an identifying feature, considering the role climate plays in determining mature size of many of these roses. 'Petite Lisette' always shows a button eye at the center of a very organized, fully double bloom. I don't think your rose is the same plant.

I doubt it's a Katy Road Pink since that was first bred in 1977, but it does look a lot like it. The bush is also a much different size.

The white does have a green center, and I'm pretty sure it's a Madame Hardy.

I've looked through so many rose pictures trying to identify mine that I think I'm going cross-eyed. It's not really important what it is, I was just curious! Thanks for all your help!

The white could also be Mme. Plantier.
