Someone is eating my Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica)

Hi,

This is my first year gardening. I planted some Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica) in some shade near my drive way. I also planted bunch of other flowers like cardinal flowers, butterfly weed, black eyed susan, coneflower and tickweed around the house.

So far, someone has been chewing off the Indian Pink flowers at night. Ironically Indian Pink are supposed to be the critter-proof.

Any idea what the animal may be? I figure it may be rabbits (there are a lot in my area). Is there anything I can use as a repellent that won't injure the frogs in my yard? Can I for example spray the plant with some hot sauce. I can't use blood meal because there are also a lot of raccoons. I have some coyote urine, but I don't think my wife will want the smell on the drive way.

Thanks.

Paul
