Hi everyone!

Its snowing in southern Wisconsin and time to think about a new greenhouse for spring.

I was wondering if anyone has a link for any harbor freight coupons? I have seen some for as much as 15% off your purchase. I've been saving my money and think now would be a great time to buy one, especially if I could get some additional money off.

The 15% coupons that I have used came on a mailer from them.

Sign up at the Harbor Freight site at harborfreight.com. Clicking on either the Free Catalog button or the Free Retail Flyer will take you to the sign up page.

Once they 'know' you, you'll get all kinds of offers. The little fountain pumps I saw at the store for $10.95 were in an offer at $4.95 recently.

Well the green house is filing up and actually contributing to the garden. The fever is broken! Yesterday my wife moved some cauliflower, broccoli and little gem lettuce starts out into the garden that I had started from seed. The warm weather really gave a boost to my tomato starts. They were looking pretty pathetic. The Amish melons I planted 3 days ago are already pushing up. I got to thinking about how much I have invested each year on plants, cages and the like. It is against my cheapo instinct. I think Ill make an effort to do it on the cheap going forward My cheapo Credo 1) I will not buy anything I can start from seed from the garden centers (except impatients & petunias this year). 2) I will use newspaper pots or Soil squares and not buy any peat starters 3) No miracle grow - leaf enriched soil is all. 4) I will shop for the least expensive potting soil I can get. 5) I will try natural pest control methods wherever possible 6) Next year I will grow my own impatients & Petunias (had a late start this year - gh was up March.) 7)I will do a fall crop and eat every bit of the bounty 8)Tomato cages are going to be my reused gate (wire type). Enough spending. Gone is the day is when people started with a shovel and a package of seed. They succeeded without all this stuff...Why cant I?

Hi d, My experience is that Hostas don't mind the moisture. I have several Hostas that I have sitting in pots, in soil that are submerged about five inches of water (above the pot) in my pond and are doing extremely well. I even have one that is just floating around in the pond (no soil or pot) and is also doing just as good. So I think that they don't mind wet feet. If yours start to look a little under the weather, then replant them in the ground. Good Luck!!

Just a lurker stopping by. Want to see if there is anything new to add to my standard talk about building and using a greenhouse to a high school class. I get Harbor Freight's catalog about once a month it seems. Delivery times vary. Catalog and online listings are seldom the same as what is carried in the stores. Mostly what I buy is stuff I can use for my pond. I have no complaints so far. I get regular sale notices for store stock on e-mail. Some of it I can actually use. But then I am only a couple of miles from a store. Quality can be variable since a good many things I use only on an amateurs basis. It is easy enough to cancel the online offering. Sandy

Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer my question. I received a wonderful 20% off coupon from someone after I posted an item wanted on Craigs list. So....I have a greenhouse now!!!!!! I got the harbor Freight 10x12 regular $799.99 on sale for $649.99 and then got an additional $130.00 off!!!! I have to wait until spring to start the construction and after reading all the posts about the trouble I'm sure to have, I'm still very excited!!!!

Congratulations on getting your greenhouse kit. You'll have time to read back through this forum and consider the myriad ways to strenghten it, fasten it down, reinforce, insulate, add extra clips, heat, cool, electrify, plumb and decorate.

Have fun and be sure to take lots of pics and make notes, maybe even start a blog.

I have 2 sons ages 27 and 22 that I'm sure can't wait to get the box open and get to work. hahahahaha. Husband is just hoping they don't move out of the country when all this starts!!!
The younger of the 2 joked yesterday and said he thought we should start working on it today! He saw the weather forecast. I wonder if he would have panicked if I would have said yes!

I've seen some of the information others have shared on posts here and really had some trouble deciding what brand to buy, but in the end, the HFGH won out because of the price. I'm willing to take a chance that it may not be the best on the market but with alittle hard work and ingenuity it will work for my purpose. And I can't wait!! I'll keep you all updated as time goes on.
