New bush, should I prune now? Training?

My husband planted a Golden Glow yellow rose bush for me a few weeks ago. It bloomed (had buds when he planted it), the blooms fell off, and now I'm wondering a few things.

1. Should I prune it? I've read to prune when the blooms fall off, but I'm not sure if I do it the first year it is planted?

2. I'd like to train it to climb, but I'm not sure if this is something I needs to start NOW, or if I should wait a bit? Also, could someone tell me which branches to tie?

I'm a bit of a newbie to roses, so any help is appreciated, thanks!
