I Have a Manual for Montgomery Wards Rear Tine Tiller - GIL 39

Hi everyone, I have the original owners guide and parts manual for the Montgomery wards 5HP Rear tine tiller. Model Number: Gil-39012A. It is the older model made by Gilson and is called the Perfectionist.

Anyone who wants a copy let me know. I can probably scan it and post it to my server in PFD form so all of you can access and print it however, I will wait to do that after I see how many are interested. If there is only a small interest I can just email it to you.

Those tiller manual requests come up somewhat frequently.

Those old Gilson front tine tillers were pretty simple. What do you need to know? My father had a Mongomery Ward version in the early 60's. Did a nice job but the worm gear was a problem after a few years. I still have a 1971 Gilson, (Western Auto Wizard) chain drive. Much more durable than the worm gear drive. Both have standard Briggs engines so for engine problems go the engine manufacturer. If you looking for gearbox seals , bearings etc. good luck.

I would use something in the range of 90-140 weight gear oil and hope the seals don't leak. Belts can be tricky, especially if you didn't see how they mounted in the first place. You may have to go to a garden equipment repair shop and find someone experienced with tillers to re-mount the belt properly. You could go look at tillers and see if you can find one with a similkar belt arrangement???

I recently inherited a Montgomery Ward PowrKraft rear tine tiller from my dad. It is model #GIL 39032D with a 5 h.p. Briggs & Stratton engine. I was able to find belts for this tiller but I would like to find an owner's manual or a factory repair manual that would show me how to change oils and lube necessary points on it. I also would like info on parts and how they go together. Anyone have manuals or know where to locate one? I am willing to pay for one or for copies etc. Thanks

I have been given what looks like to be an almost new tiller, Model Number: Gil-39012A missing the drive belts.
I know it has been sometime, however, I would very much like to find the diagram of how the drive belts are installed on this model. Can anyone help?
