What size GH/tunnel for home gardener/small family?

I have both of Eliot Coleman's books. I have been surfing various sites trying to figure out what size high tunnel or hoop house to build. There's only two of us (but more family nearby) and basically we want to have fresh food for as much of the year as possible here in NH.

Could you share with me what works for you and what you are growing in it? I thought it would be nice to have some summer squash and tomatoes as early as possible and would like to have fresh spinach and lettuce as much of the year as possible.

I keep thinking 12' wide should be enough and add on later if necessary but read that wider/larger structures stay warmer longer.

I keep expanding our vegetable garden as I get more experienced. This year I was thrilled that a small low tunnel helped me get earlier green beans and then protected a late planting of bush beans in the fall.
