Built my first compost bin

1) A pile of free wood emerged in an empty field adjacent to some recent construction in my neighborhood.

2) The compound mitre saw I bought last Christmas using a Home Depot certificate had little use.

3) A bucket of random screws from window blind fixtures and privacy fence construction..

4) 3 hours of having a good time with the mitre saw..

Yes, it is small and I don't have much OM to put in it, but I also don't have much yard. Is this contraption going to work as a compost 'bin'?

Should I cover what is in there with a plastic bag? I intend to keep adding coffee and random grass. All the sawing generated a dozen cups worth of saw dust that I threw in the bin along with coffee pods from my Senseo coffee maker.
