rusty blackhaw seed propagation advice??

I've collected a bunch of seed from a neighbors patch of rusty blackhaw viburnum trees (Viburnum rufidulum). In consulting with some of my books, it sounds like this species has that awful double dormancy. I've had terrible luck propagating seed with this characteristic.

Any advice on expeditiously busting through the dormancy? Can I file down the hard stone to encourage germination? What about manually applying periods of warm and cold?
