I'm south of you in Texas, but I grow Reine des Violette & Golden Celebration.

RdV is a large, sprawling, arching plant. Gets some bs from time to time, but shakes it off well and recovers nicely. Beautifully formed blooms of unique coloration that are perfectly scented. One of my favorite roses.

My GC is too new to really say much, except for mine does have some bs, but nothing terrible. Its bloom form, color, & fragrance are incredible. I like it very much so far.

I've never grown Comte de Chambord, but have seen it many times. I do know enough about it to say it differs from the other two roses that you mentioned in that it is very thorny, while the other two are not. In fact, my RdV from ARE is thornless. There's no questioning CdC's beauty & fragrance though.

My understanding is that Comte de Chambord is not a great rose for Oklahoma. What size and/or other things are you looking for? (fragrance, blooms, etc)

My CdC was a BLACKSPOT disaster. I couldn't get out the shovel fast enough for that rose. I am north of Dallas.

Thanks to everyone for writing. I already have these three in pots, and would like to plant them in a row along a pathway leading to a pergola. I have quite a bit of space to play with, but I'd like to have some idea of how wide they'll get in my area so I can allow for a decent set back from the path.

What I like about them is the form, fragrance, color(s) and the size; no shrinking violets here. The place I want to plant them gets this fabulous golden light at sunrise and sunset and I'm thinking those colors would really set it off. The CdC is more for mid morning to mid afternoon than dawn/dusk, but I'm trying to plan it in such a way that there is some color to "star" all through the day. I'd like some idea of disease resistance so I can decide what I need to plant in front of them to hide any naked legs should they drop all their leaves due to blackspot.

How does it sound to have these three in a row, maybe with relatively short white climbers on a pillar between them? (White-pink-white-yellow-white-purple) The white tall and narrow, the "colors" wide and sprawling. Suggestions, first impressions?

I tried growing CDC no-spray here and it was highly prone to BS and stayed spindly and tiny (2' tall). You would have to spray and coddle this one. RdV will get a little BS but is more robust (4' tall). I haven't grown GC, though I hear it can be BS prone. I would recommend Crocus Rose for a healthier yellow and bushy(5-6'tall). For a pink rose similar to CDC, consider other Portland roses such as Jacques Cartier or Sydonie, which are healthier and can grow in the 4' bushy range.

I have Comte de Chambord, and cannot spell it. Mine has something wrong with it, and the leaves aren't right. It may be spider mites, but I have never gotten rid of them, so it isn't as pretty as it should be. It is a little under 5 ft and about as wide. The flowers are absolutely beautiful - almost like Gertrude Jeckyl (spelling again), but CdC blooms often and Gertrude did not. It is in full bloom now, and I think the blooms are lighter than Gertrude. I think it is a source of Gertrude.

I don't have an eye for design. I put roses where I want them. Having said that, if I am not careful, my roses might fight each other. I wonder if the eye can appreciate the pink if it is next to a yellow or vice versa. Yellow, apricot, peach, are all a transition. The same may go for other colors.

I am just rambling. Why don't you buy some more roses? Keep in mind that the blooming will slow down at times.

I will wait for someone else to post. I hope you keep us posted on what you are doing.
