I realize that this is an old post, but if you are still out there...When making the switch from GH to Outside you have to do so gradually, it is called hardening off. For example, take them from the greenhouse and move them to a shady spot outside for a couple days, then move them to a spot in partial sun/sun for a few hours a day for a couple days. They should then be well hardened off and ready to be planted in the ground. Sarah

I bought a 6 X 8 one about 12 years ago. still standing here at the JerseyShore, even thru Sandy. BUT one of my windows blew out. we tried taping, caulking, to no avail. it's now sitting in its place on top on the greenhouse but with a stiff wind it'll blow off again. I don't want to spend the money to replace it, but I would take any suggestions as to what else I can use up there. you really can't screw or hammer since the parts are all plastic. ugh. also yes, it gets over 100 in there on any given summer day. so I go in there basically in the spring and fall. I have an outside cat that uses it for shelter. I can winter over some perenials in pots and start seeds in the spring. also looking to make it cuter in there. that's all I got. thanks!!

Winter is over, it's early spring i'm worried about. Your greenhouse appears to be polycarbonate. Mine is 6 mil plastic. I just came in as it has turned cloudy. 50 degrees outside the greenhouse 59 within. It's not completely closed up. I need to tape, patch holes and sorta seal the base from drafts. Definitely not an ideal structure. i'm about as early as you can get because these plants were started about 1 year ago. They are the suckered growth of a suckered tomato plant but i consider them to be 1 year old or more. I have got away with a 6 month old tomato plant(same variety)I had grown in the house on Halloween because that year late blight wiped out everything. I wrapped it up in heavy row cover and set it outside April 1st. It got a bit frost bitten. That was 2 or 3 years ago. Last year I tried to get an early jump in March and the tomatoes all died. They were set in the ground though. no double greenhouse just a single one.

With your 2'x 3' structure, you will want to completely open it up during full sun days. Since your back door is of a good size, open it fully. If it is still too hot in the day, you may want to put something over the top to provide some shade to keep the temperature below 90 deg. Actually any thing, even newspaper, will help cut the heat gain in your relatively small structure. Get a thermometer and if the temp. is going over 90 deg inside, put on some shade. Keep adding more during the day if necessary to keep the temp. below 90 deg. if possible.
