Planting Roses in new Lasagne bed

I've created a new bed around my greenhouse, and it consists of cardboard, leaves, well composted city compost.

I have top soil I can add to this or more compost (less composted but generally the same content as the other.

I have tons of leaves (collected over 40 from the neighborhood this fall).

Question: how deep should I dig down (ie: move cardboard aside and go into the soil below) to make sure the roses roots are in soil...or would it be better to just add soil around where they will be planted..I realize that with enough time, the above contents will be merged into the existing soil...but I dont want these plants roots to be compromised.

These are established container roses (not bareroot).
