I live in a hot humid area but my veronica sunny borders have done very well. They did have other plants around them but they along with many other perennials were moved this year to a new huge perennial bed and everything is spaced widely so perhaps I will see what you all are talking about. I also moved them to full sun, they had some shade before but bloomed great. Georgia blue is fantastic.

Rouge, will definitely add pics next season when RC comes back established! Perhaps someone can help me on this one. When I bought my first 1g plant a few weeks ago (not the clearance one mentioned above) it was in full bloom from a nursery. I actually hated buying it as such because I know it's been greenhouse grown and pumped up and quite out of sync with the season. But it was the first place I had seen it. Got it home separated into two, sorry patent police. The stems were really woody, as were the roots, more like shrub. Is that how it grows? As I thought, the full blooms turned brown and spent after a few days of being planted. But where I had divided has started pushing up new, fresh growth from the base. I'm now wondering if this new growth will flower later in the season?

Hi Idabean, It is full sun and the soil is definitely not too rich! It was so bad that I decided to go with plants that would survive in poor soil. It is clay, and by mid summer you would be hard pressed to get a shovel into that soil even with the mulch I have down. Also in that pic is 'Miss Linguard' Carolina Phlox, an antique gallica rose, a dianthus, lupine, an historic iris and off to the side that you can't see, I also have a non-flopping baptisia. I am surprised that the lupine has thrived there. Though sometimes while it blooms, the leaves droop if there has not been a lot of rain so I do water it during that period. Remy

Well I'm NOT a blue person. Indoors I have NO blue. My husband doesn't understand this. I have no idea why I feel this way. Outdoors things are different! I have a blue/yellow/white garden bed which I love. Yes, delphineums, catananche, campanulas, baptisia and more, are mixed with trollius, coreopsis moonbeam, peony Claire de Lune and low growing white clematis and aquilegia. It is a big mix and wouldn't be any fun at all without the blue! There are loads of clematis that are purple or blue/purple, but also some very nice blues I think. You do get into the question of "what is blue?" My husband and I think this could well be a male/female issue! "Victoria Blue" Salvia is the closest thing. I use it a lot. It is such a heavy, long bloomer, and about one in twenty of them will survive winter here. I like the blue flowers, rather than the blue foliage plants. And no, blue is NOT my favorite color - I have nothing blue in my home decor. I just like the uniqueness of the TRUE blue and my stubbornness to get people to stop calling it purple!!!!
