You're not crazy. I wouldn't be able to kill a flower with weed killer.

If you continue to garden you'll find that you can't possibly grow every plant from every seed that germinates in your garden. Nor will you be able to grow every piece of every plant you divide--and many perennials need division eventually. Give them away or add them to the compost heap if you can't use them/don't want them.

Some people have trouble thinning carrots too, and never get any carrots because they can't bear to kill any!

your neighbors would love the plants, and maybe later they will share with you something you don't have.

Or how about setting them at the end of your drive with a for sale sign on them?

Check around maybe there is a non-profit plant sale/bake sale going on soon and they might like the donations. I do volunteer work at a monthly bake sale and although not a baked good I brought them anyway and they all sold. Check the girlscouts, Masons, Easternstar, Boyscouts, local nursing homes, old home day, american legion, Elks something like that.

Isn't in a nice feeling to know you grow things so well :)

Echinacea is definitely a seeder. This year I had at least 10 to "unplant". People at work and neighbors are happy to get a donation. I also gave away 5 centaurea montana, 2 sedum "purple emperor" and a phlox panniculata. Spread the wealth I say.

All the above suggestions are great. SEveral years ago, I had an enormous bounty of bearded iris. You can't even compost them! So, I put them onto newspapers, drug them out to my mailbox, and hung a sign on the mailbox that said FREE iris! They were gone in half a day. It breaks my heart to see plants go to waste too, but lacey is right. We can't grow them all.
