IMO, the better sprayers do require maintenance and lubrication, this is not difficult if the manufacturer and seller are responsible.
Check to see what ACE hardware has and check closely for the repair kits - some parts in the good ones do wear out.
In the cheapies, one has to trash the entire unit when a seal wears..
Good gardening equipment in this country can be hard to find as the "powers that are" think that gardening is not "popular" in America....How little they know !

It takes only one example to prove that you are 100% wrong. Hozelock sprayers do not require lubrication. I used my last Hozelock sprayer for about 10 years before the wand handle cracked. The pump still works fine and it has never required lubrication.

If American manufacturers can't duplicate Hozelock reliability, it is their fault. What you have done is buy into their excuses for manufacturing crap.

Because I couldn't find a source for a replacement part, I just ordered a new Hozelock sprayer from wormsway.com. I found this supplier by accident because the name "Hozelock" only appears in the picture so a Google search won't find the site.

Maybe it is only the very old design sprayers that have no need for maintenance.
I have no fear of lubrication, BUT securing maintenance parts can be an impossible task.
We live in a "throw-away age", this I abhor !
Maybe this concept will work out in the future.....

And speaking of throw-away junk, Harbor Freight is selling a sprayer with an adjustable end(spraying undersides) for about $20...
So, we shall see if this works and lasts..

If any garden sprayer maufacturer was ethical and competent, it would replace the pump with a connector for a tire pump. How is selling me a pump that is carried with the sprayer doing me a favor? I can buy a foot operated tire pump at Walgreens for about $7 and it never needs lubrication. If I already have a motorized tire pump, better yet. So, you see, even Hozelock has a major design flaw. All garden sprayer manufacturers are boobs.

No, I would rather carry the sprayer back to the pump. How far would that be for the average gardener, maybe 50 ft.? Also, the frequency of needing to repump decreases with the ratio of air space to liquid within the container. At a ratio of about 4, only one pumping is necessary.

I should point out that a tire pump connector could be a retrofit option for pumps aready with a pump. It could even be manufactured by a 3rd party.

Incidentally, at Home Depot, I saw an interesting selection of sprayer brands that I never saw during online shopping, e.g., Clorox brand. Anyway, because it was so cheap, I bought a "Roundup/Ortho" brand 2 gal sprayer made by Fountainhead Group, Inc. for $20. It has a 5 year warrantee and seems to be of good construction. The piston is lubrication free and the nozzle is brass. It will be interesting to see how long this works before breaking.

I think it's a waste of time and energy as well as a potentially dangerous situation. To make it not-so dangerous, you wouldn't like carrying a heavy cannister, regulator and hose capable of handling 125psi or more.

I could be completely wrong though. Contact a sprayer manufacturer, maybe they'll like your idea.

Huh? Some sprayers, e.g., Hozelock, have relief valves that also limit pressure. So do some tire pumps.

Contact the sprayer manufacturers and ask them why they don't do it.

I'd like to hear their responses.

I put tire stems in ALL of my pump type sprayers, ...never had one blow in 30 years,what happened to common sense? also best sprayer I ever had was made from a old stainless steel, fire extinguisher, I'm sure it would take 125 psi, but not needed.

Maybe you need to look at the range of sprayers from Hudson.

They are made in USA.And they are really top class, right from the smallest to the biggest.
I say they are good since I have seen a hell of a lot of brands here in India and there is nothing to beat the Hudson.
