This is beautiful! I don't know what I have of equivalent value to trade, but it is beautiful! Would you take a cutting of the weigela florida variegata? It's blooming now with pale pink flowers & really fragrant. I also have a silk tree seedling that I could ship later once it's hardened off a bit. It's still a little tender for shipping. Or a 2 year old Catalpa sapling. Please take a look through my trade list or let me know if you would consider postage.

The lavender roses on the LHS in the 1st picture are (from nearest to farthest) Barbara Streisand, Purple Passion, Rose de Rescht, Intrigue, and the one right next to the pillar is pink Reine Victoria, with a couple of Black Bacarra nodding in from the extreme left. On the other side of the path the roses (Veteran's Honor is one) were devastated by rabbits, they are just now recovering. I had to put up hardware cloth on the gates to protect them. The Endless Summer Hydrangea is wonderful and I can't recommend it enough, and it is perfect for those spots that are a little too shady for roses. YIKES! Water moccasins. I guess I can forgo the acidic soil for a snake free area. We have rattlesnakes in California but not in this particular area, not rocky enough. Lots and lots of lizards instead, and all they do is eat bugs. Here's poor Evelyn, she got blasted by our recent 92F/50MPH wind/7% humidity weather just as she was about to start her flush, she looks bad, oh well...you can see some of the hardware cloth I put up to protect some nearly eaten-to-the-ground roses there on the RHS.

If I had space for another climber, this would be it! My old house in CA I planted one and my mother-in-law says it's spectacular. Adrienne

patty, we paid a company who is specialized in golf courses to treat our grass once. I don't know what we were thinking, i guess with all the excitement to have golf course grass we signe a contract with them. Its very difficult to have perfect grass bc, first of all it's expensive, and second it takes many sessions reseeding it to perfection.... My front yard is extremely shady, and for this reason the grass is a different type, kind of weird to be honest. The back is sunny from 11 am to sunset, and the grass is a brighter green and lusher..... It was expensive to do and as soon as the company left my house, the dog went outside to pee and poo... It keeps burning the grass since dog urine is so acidic. So, we gave up and canceled the contract. And now it is in God's hands. HalloBlondie, my soil is red heavy clay....on summer time, its impossible to dig in it. Its basically concrete. When i planted my 4th of July i had to soak that spot for almost 30 minutes with a hose to loosen it up.... I dug a big hole, and filled it with everything i could find at Lowes..... Lime, mushroom Compost, Cow Manure, garden soil, clay breaker with gypsum, Organic Hummus, peetmoss, perlite, a little bit of the original soil and voi- a-la.... In April I put a bit of Epsom Salt on them and May, June and July I feed them with Holly-tone...Seems like it works very well. I have been gardening for only 3 years, and doing it since i started planting roses.. Looks like roses love it...and they grow like a vine.
