have hfgh can't get top front piece together...help plz

we were trying to get the top of the gh toghether its the 10x12 and for some reason, my brother says the holes are not matching up. has anyone had that problem?? what did you do if you did have that problem? thank you for any help :'))

These have been around for a while so the chance your brother is right is less than nil.

Without pics of what you are trying to do, I can only say the pieces aren't being oriented properly one-to-the-other.

A recent update from the person who received the yucca is that it is green and doing well. The transplanted cholla are doing well, of course, but it will be a while before I know if any sacaton survived. We have been making progress but not as quickly as we hoped. (No surprise there! ;-) ) We have the foundation blocks for the outside beds in place up to ground level and filled with dirt. Pavers have been placed, but not yet leveled, between the existing shed and the north edge of the foundation. We have the water and electrical stubbed in. We have the SHCS tubes in place for the outside beds of the east greenhouse and hope to start filling that section soon with the removed dirt. We have removed all planned use of poured concrete from our plans and have made this planned structure possible to remove easily while still unlikely to be blown away. (Mostly due to bolting the foundation via J-bolts to rebar under bond beam cement blocks.) DH will be checking to see what type of permits/inspections we will need for electrical, water, and structures. I suspect that it will be just water and electric. We won't fill in any more until we find out. It is getting hot already so we will be putting in the outside structure and shade cloth before the central shed and greenhouses. That way we can work in the shade. :-)

Vicki, tell your hubby not to be such a nitpicker. The guy who levels the area can go a little bit over sized, and then it can be taken care of when you back fill to the size of the foundation. As far as the need for a true foundation, it looks like to me that this GH does not really require it. My recommendation is, unless you want to put it onto a poured concrete or laid concrete block foundation (which might require you to have a building permit) just dig holes at the corners, and about every two to three feet along the sides (on the inside) and set treated wood posts at least three feet deep. Then attach your treated two by eight base frame to it. I don't have one of these GH's yet, but hopefully someone who does will send you the dimensions from thiers. If not, open the box and find the instruction sheet. (If worse comes to worse, you may have to measure your base plates. I've bought Harbor Freight stuff in the past, and know first hand how "good" thier instructions are.) Kevin

Buyorsell - The shelf is just attached to the two vertical beams. Actually, being a leftover from an actual closet project (imagine that!) it's just a tad shorter than 6', so wouldn't reach the corners anyway. I'm not sure if we're referring to the same photo, but I did see one of an overhead wire shelf quite well-loaded. The secret is that the shelf is actually resting on two heavy metal pipes that run the full length of the shelf, front and back. So it's the pipes, and the rafters they're attached to, that are providing the strength. Funnylady - That's quite a project to tackle alone; more power to you! And best wishes, too, to you and your husband through this ordeal. My husband has just finished his cancer treatment (well, most of it ... he's still on certain meds and supplements and the very important and often-overlooked dietary changes; no chemo or surgery, though, just hormonal and radiation therapies). I think it's great that you have the gardening hobby ... can't think of a better therapy!

We found on our 10x12 that there was a surprising amount of play in the frame, after it was erected, especially when the bolts were loosened up. We had to loosen bolts to get our roof windows in and square, then tightened them up again. It looked like things were just not going to fit, but after I loosened bolts, and tugged a bit on the roof frame, it all settled into place so everything worked fine. Have you been able to use a level on the vertical corner posts, to make sure they're all plumb? Used a square to check that the interior corners of your frame (especially at the tops of the walls) are all nice and square? I just keep thinking something has gotten a little "off" in the construction, but of course I can't guarantee that's all it is. I did check the manual for the older version of the 6x8, and the never version, and they have not made any changes to the parts 2,3,4,5 (Front and Rear Crown Beams.) So I don't think they've mixed up any parts for you...those crown beams are the same in both kit versions. Sorry to not have more help...

We had the same problem. The instructions are incorrect. Go to their website and download the new instructions. It explains it perfectly. My foxgloves are getting big. You are a proud grandma. I saw your pics of hoolyhocks. HMM I see a trade in our future. Lol Congrats on your gh..... Post pics when you are done..... Barb

just did and thank you so much, both of you!! my hubs says the only good place for the green house is in the trash. i doooo noooot think so!! LOL i traded him my gun for that green house, LOL he bought the gun for me, i don't use it, so i said, hey babe, ill trade ya it for a green house!! he went for it, i was like COOL!!!! LOL i didn't think he would considering he bought the thing!! LOL HEE HEE HEE
man i was slick, either that or he jsut wanted all the plants out really bad!!! LOL
first year foxgloves WOW!!! Lucky you!! i love them hollyhocks!! i want the nigra ones, these turned out to be burgandy, i think they're pretty cool!! LOL you put a pic of them up, i want to see them!! :')) man a grandma!! tabor is a daddy!! to sunflower (mammoth of course!!)
man these kids dont stop growing!! LOL i'm wondering if i gave them some of my elixer by mistake??? LOL talla must be drinking some, she's just turned 6 and is in 8 clothing. its all thru the body!! but her legs are getting long too, LOL

ok, i tried putting it all together as said, the problem with my piece is, they forgot to drill the hole at the other end at my #27. or did ya'll have the same problem? otherwise it is self explanitory to me. LOL ~Medo
