Yellow comfrey for mulch, compost and plant food?

Does anyone know if yellow comfrey (symphytum tuberosum) can be used in the garden (mulch, compost and plant food) in the same way that regular comfrey (symphytum officinale) can be used? I ordered some regular comfrey seed from Thompson & Morgan but it doesn't ship until August. Hirt's has some yellow comfrey in stock so I'm thinking of trying that.
