purple or lavender roses
Comments (32)One that has been surprisingly prolific and healthy for me has been Pillow Talk, that I got when Cliff from Eurodesert sold his garden plants last year. Pillow Talk has happily survived my zone 5 winters and put out frequent reblooms of some nicely double mauve roses on a low growing plant. I consider this rose exactly what I think of when people say "mauve" - sort of a dusty pinkish purple that was popular in carpets in my grandparents' youth (certainly my grandmother had that color all over her house). The pictures on HMF are mostly from Beth, and mine has stayed the dusky purple with cream highlights rather than the hot pink in one photo. Only available from Vintage on HMF but we still have hopes for some form of survival from Vintage in years to come. Cynthia...See MoreSmall lavender or purple roses?
Comments (36)I'm glad you ordered Baby Faurax. I look forward to your reports on it. My Outta the Blue was a nice plant, but sometimes the color was a very modern hot pink. At other times it was a nice purple. It was very healthy & vigorous, but a very stiff plant. It's fragrance was outstanding! I saw several Wild Blue Yonder roses recently at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden. The plants themselves did not look that happy, but the blooms were incredible and a true purple at the time of my visit. Randy...See MoreMauve, lavender, purple, etc
Comments (31)Beth, Please see the difference between your Blue Boy picture on help me find and the other pictures of blue boy on Help me find: Your Blue boy (many petals): Other Blue Boy (less petals and different flower): They are two different roses though the names are the same. I know because I bought a Blue boy bush this year and on its label it was written that it is developed by Interplant, year 2000. on the label it was also written repeat blooming. I bought it because i liked the flowers on the photo of the label and because it repeated. When I went home and researched the rose, I was shocked that on Help me Find it was written that Blue Boy does not repeat. I called the shop and they explained to me that my rose is a different rose that repeats. Anyway, I will understand what I got when I see how it blooms this year....See More2020 Color Thread: LAVENDER/MAUVE/PURPLE
Comments (59)Hi Carol, I'm following you around the forum, I guess. We're the two night owls--but I had a huge nap late in the evening, so now, of course, I'm wide awake. It was a nice day today--92F, actually, and tomorrow will be cooler yet. Then we have a high of 70F. Can you believe that? We're going into the season of up and down weather. But it's still horribly dry with no rain since May. I feel so badly for California and their awful fires. Over 4000 lightening strikes started the whole mess, and since Aug 15, 1.25million acres have burned, plus five deaths and 3500 structures destroyed. As you can guess, I read all this earlier in the day. We have lucked out with just a few smaller fires this season. I agree with your daughter about fall and allergies--they do get better. I suffer from them, too. Anyway, we had a nice BBQ, and my granddaughter Clare was over. She's feeling better, but the covid mess has been very hard on her. She actually had it, and has been over the stuff for several weeks now. What a relief. Have a nice day tomorrow. I don't suppose Canada has a Labor Day holiday tomorrow. Every day is pretty much the same around here. Diane...See Morepalustris
