I am trying to prepare my beds, and have so far added leaves, compost, and coffee grounds. I went to the garden center today planning to buy dried chicken manure, but the lady there said I shoudn't use it... not sure why. :/ What is the harm for a vegetable bed?
She suggested I use "super phosphate", saying it will help with root production.
I don't really know what phosphate does, if I need it, or if I need any additives at all. There was lime, gypsum, all kinds of stuff. I'm really confused now.
Do these kinds of things make a huge difference? I'm trying to avoid anything with chemicals, as well.
Thanks! Kim
