I'm stuck putting together my HFGH

Hey there....

I searched the forum with no luck. I cannot figure out how to put the door up. I think it is part 14 (the piece that the door slides on) that is giving me trouble. Just cannot figure out how to position parts 2 and 3 to make it connect. At least I think those are the part numbers.

Help...please. Close up photos of your door assembly would be very helpful.

Slide three bolts into the slot on the back of part 14. The first two are used to bolt part 14 at the top corners of the door opening. Attach these and make sure the wheels at the top of the door can locate onto the rail. If not you've probably got part 14 upside down and need to rotate it 180 degrees so the rail is at the bottom and the curved overhang is at the top. Once you are happy its the right way round attach the "part 1 extension" to the end of part 14 using the third bolt and attach the other end of the extension to the roof line using the long bolt and plastic spacer included among the odds and ends. You should find the door now slides onto the top and bottom tracks.

COOL! I found the black bubble wrap clips at ACF, they're about one third of the way down on this page, if anyone wants to see them. I have looked at the bubble wrap clips that Charley's sells, but I wasn't loving their bright green color. I like these better and they're more versatile with the ring for hanging things. I read that items compatible with Juliana greenhouses are also compatible with Harbor Freight. I'm really glad to know about these! That's also a good idea to cut that slotted track material for the Rubbermaid shelf brackets to shorter lengths...to reduce the cost. So the green screen material hangs down in a flap over your doorway when the doors are open? I do the same thing with a flap of Aluminet shade cloth, to keep west sun out, and to make sure none of my pesky Thrashers wander in there and start pecking plants. I don't have squirrels tossing bark around, but these birds leave my succulents with permanent tattooes and holes. That makes me very grumpy, so the flap of shadecloth is extra insurance. Our German Shepherd has gotten very good at flipping it out the way with his nose when he wants in. :-) Your plants look great Carol. Nice to get a feel for what it would be like to stand in a 10x24 Harbor Freight GH...looooong.

Wow! I'm impressed! I just cannot figure out how to fix pc problems. I couldn't even get my printer installed and working properly! I guess it's because I'm one of those visual people, I can't read the instructions and follow them..I have to be shown or it needs to be intuitive. I hired a tech to come set up my PC system when I reorganized my office/craft room. BEST money I ever spent! Glad your system is up and running again!

Sundance, please don't massacre your lively medallion drapes. The pattern is too large for short curtains, and look so pretty on your large window. Just take a calming breath. You don't have to make all your decisions in one day. Blue is a classic color in kitchens, and blue and white is beautiful. In deciding what color to paint the chairs and island, instead of colors, think of light and dark. Do you want a light and airy look, or darker, contrasting look? You have a nice window in the room, but would too much dark paint darken the room by day or night? Next think about subtle changes or more drastic changes. Think about longevity of design. Might you tire of a drastic change or fret over the exact color of navy paint? You may decide on contrast or calm by the feeling you are trying to achieve. No one should tell you what to do, this is your kitchen, after all. We can give you our opinions when you ask for them, as you have, but don't take them as The Thing That You Should Do. KWIM? Over all, have fun decorating your adorable kitchen. Oh, and take your time. Hang your bird fabric in the window for a few days, and see if it is cheerful. Keep the sample until you finish deciding. When gathered, the birds won't be so prominent and if it doesn't work so be it. Think about if painting your chairs creamy white would allow another change down the road, or if navy chairs would make your heart sing. If your heart isn't singing, let it rest. Just remember that when you ask a group of ladies for an opinion, you will get a bunch of different answers, which leads to frustration. You are the queen of the kitchen, hold your chin regally high and own it. ( : Smile : )

"There is no discernible diff given how it works and the results." Hmmm, there are actually very considerable differences. A key element of Sous Vide is that the food is sealed in a bag. This retains the juices and environment within the bag and protects the food from environmental conditions outside of the bag. Vacuum sealing and keeping the food pressurized adds another bit to this (I can't remember the details but I know that there is a huge difference when something is not vacuum sealed as like many others I've experimented with this). Water has a much higher heat capacity than air. The water bath used in Sous Vide is critical to maintaining very accurate temps required for Sous Vide. This cannot be replicated with air or steam as Anova tries to lead people to believe. Interestingly, Anova promotes that their oven "does sous vide in half the time". To my knowledge this is impossible as it's the very long slow cooking time that balances the collagen and proteins in the food and produces the results that sous vide is known for. The Anova may be a great option for people to add basic CSO capability to their kitchen for an affordable price (and I'm actually considering one for my studio) but it is not a replacement for sous vide regardless of what their marketing material says.

Thanks also for the directions. Would you happen to have any pictures. I'm a visual guy and the directions have been a wee bit difficult for me to follow. Still trying to figure out where some of the smaller pieces go.

Try typing:
"
" without the outer quotes and with the full address of the location of your photo (hosted on a web server or a photo hosting service, i.e. "http://www.myphotohost.com/myfolder/thenameofmypicture.jpg";) substituted for the contents of the square brackets and the brackets, themselves. Include the set of inner double quotes around the address. Also, take pitty on the owner of this site and the people who are going to download your pictures and keep them smaller than 800 x 600 pixels. Don't post your 5 Megabyte 2000 x 4000 pixel images. We can't see them anyway with our limited browsers and we don't have time to wait for them to download. Simple resizing programs are available for free on the net if you didn't get one with your digital camera.

I love my hfgh I really do but if i was faced with buying another gh it would not be hf simply because of the difficulty assembling it. During assembly I said words I hadnt said in years (four letter words) I have helped assemble alot of things in my day but this was the granddaddy of them all. The directions should be burned when you open the box. Thats why you have HFGH club forum on here, pics must be posted for others who are assembling theirs. I wonder does HF ever read these posts and see the difficulty people are having. Maybe someone should send them these links.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure I'll have other questions later this week as I'm not sure where some of the little rubber pieces go...I'll post a pic of the pieces I'm not sure about.
