Am looking for good quality transplant hoe

I sure hope someone can help me. I just ordered a transplant hoe and a hand held garden hoe from one of the more respected oraganic seed companies. They were advertised as a 4" hoe and one as a 2" hoe. I got them this morning and was so excited to open the box. Well, they made a mistake in shipping and the two items I received were the same and they are 3" wide. I am so dissapointed in what I got. I was so in hopes that they were american made. Not so, Japan. After re-visiting the website it clearly states they are japanese made so I made that mistake. However, the blades are loose already and I am going to ship them back pronto.

My question, does anyone know where to purchase a good quality hand transplant hoe? I would prefer american made but would settle for british maybe. I've checked on the following websites with no results True Temper, Vermont, Spear & Jackson, Union, Ames, Home Hardware, Lee Valley, Garant and on and on ................

I am so disgusted trying to find american made, good quality stuff I could scream!

What is an american supposed to do when trying to support america and you can't find it?

Sorry for the rant. Does anyone know where to buy garden tools?

I buy some of my tools from Lee Valley. I also shop at A.M. Leonard's Gardener's Edge.

Incidentally, I think the Japanese make some good tools, and some handles are meant to have just a wedge-friction fit with the handle. To tighten the fit, just hit the working end of the handle on something hard, like a rock, and inertia will tighten the tool head.

+1 on Lee Valley and AM Leonard.

I have these and have been very happy with them. Although, the ones I bought have a cushion handle.

I found one like mine on the internet a few minutes ago. Excellent quality of the machete and sheath. I posted a few minutes ago but it looks like it did not take. Anyway, this machete is heavy but can be sharpened to a razor edge and it will cut anything within reason. The top of the blade is probably 1/4 inch wide so it is heavy. Good as an axe for many uses. The ones on that site seem expensive but after seeing what they look like, you might find a cheaper one.

IMO Do you leave them out in the weather? handles usually work loose. drill hole put screw in or bolt it. Wear? over time they wear out. China couldn't do anything technical(casting and forging metal) till after the 30's when somebody wanted slave labor and taught them how to forge metal. The rest is what we have today blue collar jobs are gone do to 50 cent hour labor and CEO's shipping our jobs overseas and getting 100 million dollar bonus yearly, kickbacks to lobbists which feeds the real cheaters the Honorable congress off the backs of poor china workers. Just look at the wind mill project in NV? I think there wage maybe up to 1.25 now and we wonder why there are no jobs in the USA? do you see anybody over here working for $1.25 hour when they can get 6.50 hour doing nothing from the government? Course this is all my opinion which I am usually wrong.

Sheets are a problem these days because they are no longer manufactured in the US, so the quality control and consistency within a brand that we were used to in the old days is gone. That said, I have found that Costco's best Kirkland sheets are consistently soft and smooth. Unfortunately, I have found that other brands can vary, from year to year and even from color to color at the same store! Their fabric comes from such a variety of factories and the quality control is less than stellar.
