One of your remotes has reverted to an earlier technology. (manufacturers explanation) What you need to do is purchase a new remote. Make sure it is the exact same model number as your original remotes or guaranteed compatible. Then you will find you can program it and one of the old remotes. A process of elimination will show you which is the bad remote. Remove the batteries and toss it so you don't have problems with it in the future.

You've done good so far. There are a couple terms we need to change. The units on each side of the door are called "sensors" and they are working the way they should. The actual receiver is inside the motor unit and could be our problem. Do you have only the one remote hand unit? I think you referred to the hand unit as the opener. You say the green light on the opener lights up when you press the button on the hand unit. Do you mean the hand unit or the small green light near the learn button? Post back and we will go from here.

Sounds like your receiver has quit. Hard wired wall control and keypad doesn't use it so it keeps working. Time for a new opener. That one is old and outdated anyway.

I have a 1/2 HP Craftsman garage door opener that has worked fine for several years. A few days ago, the door stopped operating. The remotes and wall unit will turn on the overhead light (which stays constantly lit), but there is no sound or attempt for the door to raise. I tried resetting the codes and get the same result: the light will turn on, but the door will not lift. The vacation feature is not turned on, and there is no flashing overhead light indicating an obstruction. There was an electrical storm in the area on the day that the opener stopped functioning.
