Hi Looks like a Vanda to me also. My runaway favorite type of orchid mostly because of the intense blues and purples but they come in a multitude of other colors and forms. main drawback to them is the growth habit tend to grow straight up with litttle branching. They do require a lot of light ,warmth and water. If you can provide the conditions they are a fantastic choice!! Edna Sounds like my luck at times! lol! Gotta have the 'only' one there - no matter what! If it's a lavender color bloom - most likely a sun plant. To be safe - give it early morning sun & partial shade until you find out what it is. Water - lightly! If no one id's it - post a pic of the bloom when some appear. :) That would definitely help! Thanks, It is from that group but just a different one. I found it on a few sites. This one has a few pics. There is one place where a man said it is a nice hedge to have by your house. Well all I can say is he has never had it by his house. It is covered with flies the moment it starts to bloom until the very las one is gone. If there is a door or window near you can hear them buzz. They don't really come in but when you walk by they seem to surround you. Very gross. But I think instead of killing it I will move it way down in the fence area. Let it grow tall but keep trimmed up around the bottom. Yes this on is easy to take starts from. Interesting table... I know nothing about it but can offer some explaination as to the symbolism. The swastika prior to Nazi Germany was regarded as a symbol of Good Luck, it was used prolifically in all kinds of things. The "arms" can go to the right or the left, they have no meaning. It is thought the symbol was first seen as a comet trailing through the night sky, the "arms" being the gasses of the trailing comet particals. Next the rabbits are also a symbol of Good Luck... Say, "rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit" the first wakeup of every month and you'll have good luck all month long. The rabbit foot was just an easier means of carrying a rabbit with you. I'm thinking this table has nothing to do with Nazi Germany, but may be from a period of time prior, when the swastika had a different meaning.
