Briggs had a replacement program a few years back, but only if you took your mower to a dealer. In my case the dealer was going to charge $62 labor to replace the tank after they received a replacement tank from Briggs. I opted out and got a tank from a mower bone yard. I don't think Briggs ever fessed up to there being a problem with the tank.

I had looked there and that does not appear to be the same tank and fitting installed on the Troy-Bilt Horse. The plastic tank has a rubber like "grommet" through which an angled brass fitting with filter screen is inserted. I need that rubber or similar "grommet". Thanks for your response baymee. Larry

JB Weld Black will Bond to either PP or PE Man Made Plastics . As I indicated JB Weld when applied Properly would be an Adequate Choice . The secret is within proper plastic preparation . For the chemical action to work within Bonding pre cleaning and etching must 1st be introduced. Any Ketone or Alkyl Acetate Solution will suffice. In more stringent usages Mild Concentrations of Sulphuric or Chromic Acid Solution are used then the surface is Neutralized with Mineral Water and dried. Much easier and just as efficient is the use of a Oxidizing Oxyacetylene Torch Flame . The Plastic section is heated carefully until glossy then let to air cool slowly . Rinse with Mineral Water Pat Dry . So you see why I recommended the replacement of the plastic part if at all possible . There are some Hot Glue systems that also work well on Plastic but would be suspect on your application due to ambient vibration and Fuel Chemical attack over the yrs . Again the Ball in in your Court , a little JB added to the internal threads may well seal ok . External Leakage will require the etching method of some sort for a permanent Bond .

This thread is cracking me up. My mother is 98 and wears that darn plastic bonnet. When she takes it off, she kind of pulls on the ends and it pleats itself again. She has them by the back door and in her purse. I know there was a time when I was young that my sister and I used them (briefly!). When I was a "tween", young girls seemed to dress like a version of their mother. That changed with the arrival of the mid-1960's. My mom also goes to the hairdresser every week and has her hair cemented in place. She barely touches it until the next visit. I drive her around and always fluff the back of her head. I see too many old women with a spot on the back of their head where their hair is mushed down from sleep. I use umbrellas and rain jackets. If my hair gets messed, I can run my fingers through it and get it presentable again.
