the little round balls are the seeds. they should turn brown. they droop over as they get heavy from the seeds. Just a little longer before harvesting the seeds. if you intend to use the seeds try to wait as long as you can before they fall off the plant. they should turn light tan color or brownish tan. something like that. You will know because some "balls" will start falling off.

Seeds need to be fully ripe before they can be used for propagating. That means, when they're brown and falling from the plant. Some pix at the link below. The Âseeds are technically the fruit, each containing 2 true seeds. Germination can be improved by rubbing the fruits until the 2 seeds separate. Soak the seeks for 3-4 days, changing the water twice daily, then dry the seeds for 8 hours before planting. Sow seeds about 5mm deep. Hello to everyone looking for why their moonflowers don't scent the yard with intoxicating perfume like other people describe... My moonflowers have finally bloomed in Zone 9b (seeds started March 20, 2023 - first bloom September 12, 2023) and I cannot really smell any of them. I can smell a faint plastic smell like lafleuriste described 14 years ago but was anticipating heady garden filling perfume! Other flowers smell strong to me - certain roses, osmanthus in bloom, olive blossoms, plum blossoms, bearded irises, freesias and daffodils, jasmine etc. I love passing by an unseen garden and getting walloped by a big cloud of flower perfume. Alas it seems that this might be like cilantro - some people experience one thing and others will have a completely different experience!

What I don't get is all the Mexican food here has tons of cumin in it, but when I was younger, I lived in Monterey and on a ranch just north of Guadalajara. I learned to make all of their foods and not one dish had that in it. My first experience with Cilantro was on the ranch. I was riding my horse in some woods and got poison oak. The old women there chopped up the cilantro and mixed it in a glass of water with some other herbs. They told me to drink it to get rid of the poison oak. I couldn't stand the smell and declined. It took 20 years for me to acquire a taste for it in salsa.
