Name That Plant!

help to identify this shrub/plant/hedge

Hi,

Does anybody know what this plant is? Usually it's just a green leafy hedge (if that's the term) and once or twice a year it flowers with lovely white (rose type) flowers. This year it has heaps of bulbs but they are all flowering and dying straight away. I've noticed lots of little spider webs around the plant, so if anybody knows also what pest is most likely affecting it, and what sort of pesticide I could use that would be great.

Might be Gardenia with Spider-mites.

Hi, Saltcedara thanks, feel like a noob, Gardenia strikes me as a very common plant (that I should know), but it's just not my thing. The garden was established when we bought the place so I'm slowly learning whats's what. I think it definitely has spider mites thanks for the link I will work on getting rid of them.

Specifically 'Frades'. Already suspecting this was your plant, I drove by a pruned hedge of 'Frades' today and it looked like you could have taken your picture at the same location. Since the habit varies with the type pruning manuals prescribe somewhat different approaches to different kinds of escallonias. But in your situation the hedge maintenance approach of both controlling overall size and keeping new growth coming from inside by cutting long branches back to existing new side shoots well inside the surface will probably apply. This would be done right after the first flush of bloom, the same time that smaller shoots that have flowered can be snipped back to maintain a hedge-like surface within the space available.

Thank you, very much for your help. I believe I am leaning towards Chamaesyce hypericafolia, Graceful Sandmat .......https://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/134630/ Think I will let it grow for a while and just see if I like it in the pot. Doesn't say it is a weed, or invasive so don't think I have any problems with it.
