Putting 2 HFGH together.

I have convinced my DH that I need another HF to attach to the one I have. Now....anyone have any ideas how to do that? Should I put them end to end or could I use it to make the one I have wider, longer and taller?

I'm excited about the possibilities of doing this.

Hi Cindy, I remember a long time ago someone posted pictures of two HFGH's put together but I could not find the thread. Anyway, they put them end to end and took the back panels out and had a door at each end. If I recall right, they did some extra bracing when they attached them and just bolted them together and used silcone chauk to make a good seal.Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Thanks. I did a search too and couldn't find anything. Seems our archives don't go back very far anymore. I wonder why that is.

dave i just use auto openers and cheap clearence fans,cheap heaters,and cheap gutter cables.i did put a line of misters down the ridges and it works great when it warm and sunny but i need to adjust them better.extra clips are the way to go.this fall i will do some alterations to make it cheaper to heat. i will take out the poly from the roof and walls on the north side and double them on the south side with an trapped air space like a thermal window.and insulate the north wall as much as i can.i also want to insulate the floor better.maybe one of those clearence blue flame heaters will see.oh yeah the doors are a pain i might put hinges.i will post pictures when i do it. heres a tip dont buy anything unless your sure you need it like an automated super duper fan with shutters if your just starting plants and extending your season or build any thing that cant be moved quickly out of the house its very small and you will probaly want to move things around depending on the season.good luck. rob

just did and thank you so much, both of you!! my hubs says the only good place for the green house is in the trash. i doooo noooot think so!! LOL i traded him my gun for that green house, LOL he bought the gun for me, i don't use it, so i said, hey babe, ill trade ya it for a green house!! he went for it, i was like COOL!!!! LOL i didn't think he would considering he bought the thing!! LOL HEE HEE HEE man i was slick, either that or he jsut wanted all the plants out really bad!!! LOL first year foxgloves WOW!!! Lucky you!! i love them hollyhocks!! i want the nigra ones, these turned out to be burgandy, i think they're pretty cool!! LOL you put a pic of them up, i want to see them!! :')) man a grandma!! tabor is a daddy!! to sunflower (mammoth of course!!) man these kids dont stop growing!! LOL i'm wondering if i gave them some of my elixer by mistake??? After the base was done and squared the second time. (DH doesn't like it when I check his work. But how can I work if it's not right.) It only took me one day. But I have a lot of experience on putting GH together. This is the 5th one. The first one was ACF, it was the large "Little GH". It taught me a lot and lasted through all the hurricans a few years ago. After that I got a Julian 7X9. Still have that. Two years ago I got the 6X8 HFGH, still have that. Last year I got the first 10X12 HFGH. Liked how high it was so deside to try to put two together when the weather cooled down. Can't add anymore, no more room.

I sent him an email but haven't received a response as yet. My DH spent some time this weekend looking at the greenhouse and I think he's pretty sure what he wants to do. He's an engineer so he's pretty good with that stuff.

i never did take out the end panels its cheaper to heat one during the winter.mine are just butted back to back.you can just rivet flat aluminum on the joints if you want to remove the inside walls but i dont think its worth it.just pop out the center panels and seal up the gaps there.there is an advantage to leaving them stock they will be esier to move,sell,clean,keep at diffrent temps ,one can be used for propagating with mist or what and the most important one ever is a 400 hundred dollar electric bill insted of 800 dollar bill. rob

Rob, thanks for the pic. What a pretty area you have there. I think I want mine open in the middle. Was your electric bill really $400 just for heating the greenhouse? Wow, my DH would have passed out. LOL

Dan put a baseboard heater that we had in there and connected it to a thermostat. I kept it at 55 degrees all winter and the electric bill only went up $30 a month. I'm hoping that the addition will only add another $20-30 a month. Our winters are milder than yours though.
