This plant is outside the Albany, CA school district office, for anybody who happens to be local...
Anyway, I hope someone can help me identify this plant! I think it is quite stunning, and collected a few seeds from a ripe seedpod. The seeds are rather large for a salvia-- they are approximately the size of a sesame seed, but are shiny jet black. The seed pod itself is very fragrant (camphor? mint? salvia?) and quite sticky/sappy. I had to use quite a bit of soap to get the residue off my hands. As you can see in the photo, the foliage is on the grey/silver end of the spectrum, and the flowers are a lovely reddish purple. The leaves are distinctly arrow shaped.
