Cable as in a wire moving through a sheath? The sheath needs to be stationary at both ends. Usually at one end, it is crimped in, usually the handle. The other end is held by a clamp over the sheath. If it was working before the cable broke and you have the correct cable, then it should just be a matter of adjusting the sheath away from or to the lever on the mower. If the wire inside the sheath pull to engage the deck, loosen the clamp and pull the sheath away a bit from the end of the wire. If the wire pushes to engage the mower loosen the clamp and push more sheath through the clamp to the end of the wire. It may take a few attempts to get it just right. Once you look at it and think about the way it works, you'll figure it out.

None of grandma's fresh baked cookies until this gets fixed! Does it seem as though the brake pedal comes all the way back up? Like maybe the pedal hasn't fully returned after disengaging the park brake? If it does at least roll, best guess is maybe the traction belt hopped off a pulley. If it does not actually roll- maybe the brake caliper or caliper arm is stuck. If you lift one rear corner and turn the tire, it shouldn't freewheel. If it does, you may have a missing /damaged wheel key as shown above. Best of luck.

Hi All, Thanks for all the tips; you actually helped me solve my issue (the clutch did not engage). Two years ago, I decided to buy a “Portable Car Battery Charger” instead of keep buying new battery every winter, which apparently was the root-cause. I used the “Portable Car Battery Charger” to jump-start the tractor then disconnected it and start plowing but this year the clutch did not engage. Apparently, the clutch need some power from the battery and since my battery is dead it simple didn’t engage. So, as a "temporary solution" I ducted tape the “Portable Car Battery Charger” to the tractor hood and I keep it connected after the initial “jump-start” and the clutch (and me) are happy. Next week, I will get a new battery for the tractor and a “Battery Buddy” to keep the battery alive during the summers. Hopefully, this post will save others some time & $$

I also have a 2005 Husqvarna LGT2654 riding mower that the blades wont engage :( I did as tractortrader said and got on the mower, turned the key (engine still off though) and tried to engage the blade and I didn't hear anything. The electric clutch spring looks fine. I'm thinking, since I don't hear anything when trying to engage the blade I am going to have to replace the PTO clutch. We have also replaced the drive belt recently, and the transmission because the reverse was not working so well. Since we replaced the transmission the reverse works a little better but not much. Any suggestions on that? Or is it just time to get a new mower!? lol
