I must admit that you guys seem like a happy group for people that admit that they bought a less than quality product but decided to make the best of it AND MAKE IT BETTER. That is why AMERICA will always win. We never quit. I personally grew up on an Island, connected to the mainland by a bridge, granted, but the nearest town of any size was 42 miles away and it wasn't all that big either. My father could make ANYTHING FIT or WORK and I can recall time and time again when he did just that. I am very pleased to acknowledge that I have those genes running in my veins. The Oreintials (read China) might be able to make it cheaper, but WE make it BETTER. I absolutely LOVE to read how y'll have improved and strengthen those little flimsy, twisty pieces of left over beer cans and made them into things of beauty and STRENGTH. johnnyq, I'm not much help, since I've been shamelessly kicking the can down the road for years now. Made it through the last two winters with a layer of 6 mil greenhouse plastic sheeting over my own badly damaged polycarbonate roof. We've replaced the roof panels once already, and I only get about three years in the HFGH panels before small holes start showing up in the outside layer of the roof poly panels (even with shadecloth in place all year.) I'm lucky we didn't have a wet heavy snow this winter, or we would have been out there rigging up emergency interior bracing! All of my wall panels are still original, and are now about ten years old. They've finally yellowed and developed small holes too, so I'm looking at a sizeable investment to replace all the roof and wall panels. To be honest I'm doing some soul searching about keeping the greenhouse, but I probably will go ahead with the replacement, since all is fine except for the panels. And I'm not sure I want to give up the hobby quite yet. My plan is to buy 4mm twinwall poly elsewhere (not Harbor Freight, as I'm just getting too old to deal with the work of replacing the roof so often.) Last time I checked, FarmTek seemed to be my best source price wise. Did you mean that HF is offering 6mm panels with a warranty now? One (potential?) heads up is there might be a slight glitch with getting 6mm thick panels to slip into the aluminum framing at the roof peak - as you know the panels slide into a channel up there - and there has been past discussion that anything thicker than 4mm might not slide into the channel easily. I don't know if this is a problem with the kits that are newer than mine, though, and it might not be an insurmountable problem. Maybe others will chime in with panel replacement updates.

I'm so sorry to read about this...I can only imagine how upset you are, especially watching it happen. I'm glad it was empty (small comfort I know.) It's good you had the panels screwed down, at least they didn't end up in neighboring counties... I agree with foxesearth, a sturdy foundation and anchoring system is going to be critical when you rebuild. Here's my link too, so you can see how we anchored our foundation to the ground, and then anchored the GH to the foundation. Compared to some foundations you'll find in the archives, ours is very simple. (Do a search for HFGH 10x12 and you'll have tons of reading.) We feel confident we had quite a few 50mph wind gusts this spring, right on the doors of my GH (tightly clamped shut of course) and no problems at all. my HFGH blog I think you'll find Harbor Freight will order almost any part for you, but the problem is their awful record on shipping time. In spite of what they tell you when you order, many members here have had to wait a year (no kidding) for promised replacement parts to arrive. I've emailed Harbor Freight about this terrible record on shipping times, but did not receive much encouragement that they plan to do much about it. So, I'm guessing that might be a bit of a challenge, unfortunately. :-(

Have had my 6X8 for almost 7 yrs. No problems. I have 2- 10X12's. One is about 5yrs old and the other is about 2 or 3 yrs old. No problems. The 2 10X12's are hooked together back to back to make one . Have doors on both ends that way. don't have to walk all the way around them to get to the other 2 greenhouse that I have. Yes I'm GH happy but at lease I'm happy.
