I have TONS of plants I need help identifying. I appreciate any help anyone can offer and can, of course, take better pictures if these are not helpful.

This is growing in shade on the side of our house. My mom originally thought it was Chinese Jasmine:

Mahonia bealei ( 7, 8), Fatsia japonica( 16,17), Aspidistra( 18) , Vitex ( 12, 13), Sedum ( 9 ) are some of the plants.

Perrennials are nice, but don't forget to give your garden 'bones'. Evergreens for winter interest and structure. Shrubs and small trees for mid-level height. Perhaps some understory trees behind and under the larger trees in the picture. Serviceberry and Dogwood are favorite candidates. For evergreens, I would suggest some of the dwarf hollies or dwarf hemlock species (keep with the dwarfs, you don't have a huge space here). I have a Picea pungens 'Blue Globe' which will grow to 3x3 foot mound and has shocking powder blue needles. If you're adventuresome, you could try Picea orientalis 'Skylands', which is a narrow, slow growing spruce with yellow-green needles all year round. Quite lovely (see attached pictures). How big is the heat pump? Are you building a energy use conscious cabin? It is possible that you heat pump is enough to cool and heat the new structure. Ok not likely but possible. The mancave should be built underground and then won't need much if any HVAC. No one can answer your question "What is the most efficient way to Heat/Cool (Types,Size and Brand)the new 2600 home built on a slab? " without a lot more information. The most efficient way would be geothermal - probably not worth the expense but is the most efficient. Your energy use has a lot more to do with the structure than the system.

Hi Practical: Sorry the sketches were confusing. First, if the door to the bathroom is open, yes, unfortunately, you will see the toilet. BUT, I don't expect that door to EVER be open. I'm looking at doing a pocket door (or possibly some kind of barn door IF I can figure out a way to soundproof it. That triangular area, with toilet and sink is separated from the dressing/bathing area by another sliding door. The hope is that then it can do double service as the water closet for me and as a powder room for anyone visiting, At my age, it's highly unlikely that I'll be sharing the bathroom with anyone! Any stay-over guests will be in the adjacent unit, where they'll have their own two bathrooms. The L you see on the other side of the peninsula is a built-in banquette for a dining table there. Of course, it doesn't have to be there. In fact, virtually nothing (except maybe that alcove bed!) has to be where I've got it now. That was just the best plan I could come up with.. I do think a huge mirror is a great idea. One thing I'm exploring is finding a giant one to hang on barn-door hardware and use it for the door to the powder room/bathroom. (Again if I can find a way to soundproof it). At the very least, I'm thinking of a mirrored panel door there, perhaps flanked on one or both sides by "mock" doors that are mirrored as well, so that a lot of that angled wall will reflect the outside view. Unfortunately, most remodeling "experts" are not very good Kitchen Designers - unless they have one on staff. This is also true of architects. Architects and contractors (remodelers) have their place and expertise, but that rarely includes designing a kitchen that follows the "best practices" or the good design guidelines. Sadly, even some professional KDs also either don't know or ignore the best practices and guidelines as well. If you have a KD who is certified by the NKBA, then they should at least be aware of them, but whether they put them into practice is unknown. If you want a Kitchen that is truly functional as well as meets your needs, I strongly recommend two things: Take advantage of the people here - both to work out what you think you want and to vet designs you get from KDs Be heavily involved in the planning and design of your project - don't just hand it over to a KD / Contractor / Architect You're doing the above now - that's great! Keep it up and you will end up with a well-thought out design that works for the needs and wants of you and your family. +++++++++++++++ Regarding moving a sink...Moving a sink is actually pretty easy if you have a basement or even a crawl space below - which you have. It's when a house is on a slab that it's more expensive/work. It might be a bit more if you have to break into the foundation b/w the original house and the addition, but before you assume it will be too expensive, get some estimates. (We moved one sink and added another when we remodeled our Kitchen and the cost was a very small part of the entire remodel cost/effort.) In general, never assume something will cost too much, always find out! Sometimes you will be pleasantly surprised! (And, yes, sometimes it may be a not-so-pleasant surprise!)

The one you said is a palm of some sort looks like cast iron plant (Aspidistra elatior). The purple succulent looks like a purple heart (Setcreasea purpurea).

My guess going by the pics for 1 and 2 is Japanese honeysuckle. Pic 3 is Chinese tallow tree-pull that one up while you have a chance. 6 is a Chinese or Japanese wisteria. 14 and 15 are privet (Chinese or European). 16 and 17 are castor bean. 22 is in the ginger family.

#18 might be a Ti Plant (Cordyline fruticosa), one of my favorite plants, but it would help a lot to see the stem since there exist similar plants.

Wow! y'all are amazing! I'm glad to know about the Chinese tallow tree. The previous owners seem to have planted a lot of exotic plants; definitely very few native plants. Thank you so much for the help!

Will confirm that 16 & 17 are Fatsia japonica, NOT castor bean.

Sorry about the wrong ID on the Fatsia japonica. I'll have to look again at the plants growing rampant in the ditches around Lake Okeechobee, FL. My plant nerd buddy told me they were castor bean, and look very much like the Fatsia.

The previous owners seem to have planted a lot of exotic plants

In many cases these guys move in on their own (japanese honeysuckle and privet are classic examples). Just a little bird poop is all it takes.

I know they did plant a lot of what's back there and I am sure they are appalled when they drive by and see me ripping out the invasive ground cover and letting the grass die so that we can replace it with creeping thyme. Oh, the horror! :->

The two images after your Aspidistra are of Photinia x Fraseri, called Red Tip Photinia.

tallafl - the plants you are familiar with may well be castor beans (Ricinus) which will naturalise but the ones pictured here are definitely Fatsia japonica. They are superficially similar in leaf shape but if you check a few sources you will see they are different.

4 and 23 are Passiflora of some kind, Passiflora caerulea or Passiflora incarnata are possibilities.
