Unused HFGH part List

OK, this is going to be an interesting thread, because I'll be very curious as to what everyone ended up NOT using from the kit......and I will personally contribute tomorrow when I go out and pull out the little plastic container that held all the nuts bolts, screws, and all the miscellaneous thing-a-ma-jiggies that were supposed to be used...

Confession...they were not all used, and I would be very interested in knowing if by NOT using them, I'll be having my GH tumble down on my head one day?

Tune in tomorrow for my UNUSED PARTS LIST

best i remember i had a few bolts and nuts left over. everything else i used , even the gutter caps and the little caps on the corner posts.

I don't recall anything being left over but it was well over a year ago that we built it.

Sherry and fellow company are awesome people... I could care less if they think this is a HFGH thread. If it wasnt for people like all of you. Us newbies would be in a compost pile along with our greenhouses. Keep the information coming...... My door was wrong also and by the way the door parts were sitting on my porch when I got home from work today. What a joke only took a year from china..... Hi Willa, nice of you to think of other HFGH owners. There have been a few posts here in the past with folks looking for replacement parts (one for roof studs, and one for door parts...I believe.) I think it would be really helpful if you could post back here with a list of the specific parts you have available, when you know, and then maybe you'll get a better indication of interest. I also hope you'll post about your HFGH "recreation", sounds very interesting!

You might get more responses from non-owners seeking parts for building smaller greenhouses and cold frames if you identified some major panel parts and studs by size, price and what state you live in. I also considered buying another greenhouse for parts when the price dropped below the cost of just replacement panels from other greenhouse firms.

Aluminum can be painted, but you have to be very careful about the paint. If it's sprayed on, it would be a very thin coating and unlikely to afffect tollerances for setting in bolts for assembly. Perhaps prime and light first coat it first, then finish coat after the frame is assembled, before the polycarb is installed. If you don't have the means to powder coat aluminum, the next best is the right primer and paint and for that, I honestly don't know of any that would do a better job than Krylon acrylic. Then, you could give it a satin finish, which covers better than gloss and has a more elegant look to it. But the cost might be prohivitive- or perhaps not. If $50- 60.00 of Krylon would make that much of an asthetic difference for you and the appearance of your property, it might be worth the extra cost. Otherwise, just hit the frame pieces with a good metal polish before you assemble it. If nothing else, it would delay discoloration and pitting, especially if you are near the ocean. A garden GH can add value to a home while giving pleasure to its owner, or reduce it, depending on how well it compliments, or detracts from the appearance of the whole, so only you can know what is best for your home, in your neighborhood.

I have the back wall of a 6x8 that I didn't use when I combined 2 kits....is that what you're referring to?

Good thread. Maybe we can help someone out. I have the long aluminium door parts. They came in the mail a year later after I ordered them. I was lucky, the manager at HF felt sorry for me and gave me the parts out of another box. That took only about 10 months. Barb

I didn't use any of the black plastic end caps. I kept finding them on the ground. So I packed them away.

I had a long bolt and a few nuts left over, and one extra part 47 hold-down connector (the part that goes at the bottom of each wall stud to clip it to the base). I never used the plastic part 73 gutter end caps...my gutters were formed too wide for the caps to fit right. They kept popping off so I gave up on them.

I also never used the two silly little spanner wrenches they included. ;-)

I have not done my inventory yet. rained all day and was windy, so I didn't want to even open up the doors today!!

I know I did not use all my nuts/bolts, and the gutter caps and the peak caps, could never get them to stay in place...and I actually had a bunch of clips left too...I've been going back over it and adding them where they looked thin...

I used all my panels (sorry JOE) get with Dave, sounds like he's the one with poly panels....Dave you might want to consider an ebay auction with those, that would be interesting...

I'll get my list together soon...

We had one long metal support "beam" leftover from our 6x8...ran into it the other day when we were cleaning off the patio to build a shed. It was a duplicate...we had all the ones required, and when we were done, it was leftover!

Anyone missing a single support strut? ;-)

I, too, had poly-panel clips left over together with all those fiddly bits of black plastic I didn't put in. I even went around and added more clips to the more exposed panels and still had some left over.

Left over clips? You had clips LEFT OVER? We ordered off to a greenhouse supply
for bags of extras so as to put twice the number supplied.

Maybe they're packing more than they used to with the kit.

I've replaced the doors. If anyone wants the door frames they are welcome to them (but not the poly!).
