I think it would probably combine with the amber, unless it is opaque. If its opaque the light wouldn't shine through. I've been playing with pebeo 150 paints that you apply and then bake in the oven. You can't take it off after its baked, but they seem to look the same after, so you could experiment and not cook it until you get the right look. That is assuming you can take the glass part off to bake it. Some of the pebeos are opaque. They have an O after the number or something. None of mine are opaque, but that was just good luck since I didn't know the system when I bought them. What ever paint you use, think about what color plus amber (yellow) equals the color you want and try to buy 0r mix that color. Also you can paint on the inside and the outside to help neutralize the amber if you need to. Calamity is right, just grab some paint and go for it! Good luck. Have fun and report back! Kathy

Probably too late for you, but for others reading this now and in the future, 3M makes a very affordable respirator that is both comfortable AND effective. I have the 3M 7500. With cartridges it's under $25, I think. I use solvents and spray adhesive all the time for work and finally got worried enough about my health that I broke down and bought one of these. I never thought respirators were all that effective (and maybe they weren't, 30 years ago?). But DANG, I cannot smell a THING with this mask on. I mean seriously, I will be working along, la de da, no problem, and then I will take the mask off before leaving the room and the odor is overwhelming! I love it. I have kicked myself black and blue for not getting one years ago. If you're going to do more than a little bit of work with solvents, get one. (No, i do not own 3M stock. I should.) You guys r so gr8, ,, thanks for responding:) It's just a tough decision.... But I think you are right olychick! Once painted it would b very difficult to go back. I just wasn't sure if light stain was "in" theses days... I have had that table for so long...would not mind a new one to tell the truth! Nosoccermom, thanks so much for the photos!! They r beautiful! No we haven't selected hardware until we decide the finish. If white was going to go with the cup style brushed nickle drawer handles & matching knobs on cabinets... But if stained light might go with something a little more contemporary, even though our house is a traditional 1976 model... Not sure if we should do that because may be selling it soon... Have to keep in mind the masses... Live wire, you r so right.. Little contrast in here... Guess I'm afraid... I love to paint& Contrast is what I struggle with in my paintings also! I think with the dark countertops (though not much of It) would that not be too much dark?? Plus since it is so open to living R that is mostly whites & tans ( one whole wall is a painted off white brick fireplace... Hmmm, I don't like Mid tone brown stains at all.. Reminds me of the 70 cabinets we had when we purchased this place... But DO like the Very dark almost black stains... Something to think about for sure...

I love your selections...I actually really like stained wood with classic marble finishes. I think it's classic and beautiful. Would you mind sharing your sources? I really love many of them. Just a thought....we recently gutted our master bathroom, with marble countertops, and shower pan floor. While it's gorgeous, I'll never do marble in the shower again. You can't bleach it! We have cleaners come every two weeks, and I clean a bit in between, but it's hard to keep the grout clean without bleach....just something to consider. I think it would be great in a guest bathroom that will not be used often.
