Is it possible to keep buddleia fairly small?
Comments (17)DH killed my Adonis Blue when residing the house, it got trampled to the point where it did not survive. The only plant that completely died and now I can't buy a new one because Oregon has decided they are invasive weeds. I loved it's dark color and small size. I still have Peacock but I don't like the color as much. There are some new cultivars that don't seed that are allowed here but they are really expensive when I've seen them for sale. Lo & Behold Blue Chip is too. I want one gallons not three gallons and it is hard to find them these days, everyone is selling bigger plants....See MoreDig in 50% wood chips?
Comments (23)Jimbobfeeny, wonder which 'hairbrained' idea you are referring to? Using wood chips as an amendment is not a 'hairbrained' idea and has been used by many successfully. I think what often is not mentioned is that there are many types of wood chips and they don't all have the same results. Freshly chipped moist live wood from small brush and small trees (ramial chipped wood) acts very differently than chipped old dry wood without the bark from large trees. The former would compost fairly quickly on it's own as it has both carbon and nitrogen, the latter is mostly carbon so would need extra nitrogen to decompose. Here's a quote from the following link: "In the North-American species, essential plant nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) increase when branch diameter decreases. These concentrations reach a minimum in branches over 7 cm in diameter, so branches having less than 7 cm in diameter contain 75% fertilizing nutrients." Here's an article which may enlighten. Comments (46)I always look at it this way. If the temperatures are supposed to be above normal and it's so cold now, just think how warm it's going to be to bring them up to ABOVE normal. Wishful thinking, eh? LOL Meanwhile, it was awful here today. It stayed at about -23°C all day with a mean windchill. We had a PD Day, so i was inside most of the day, but just walking that short distance back to the car was murder! Brrrrrrrrr! Things are supposed to get better by the middle of the week here too - not "warm", but better than this!...See MoreGraduation party and new Vitamix all in the same weekend
Comments (15)Thanks A2. She really likes her new job too. Now one off the payroll, two more to go (they will be college sophomores next year). Just finished the last of the party food. I am completely unable to cook an appropriate amount of food. We are always eating it for days! I made egg salad in the VM today. It was too smooth. I think it would have been fine with a smaller amount. Do you think I can grind coffee in the VM?...See Moreathenainwi
