Oh my goodness BorS, that looks so nice! I'm good of mind to go tear out my center bed and put in a pond. I'm NOT kidding!!!....LOL....I'll break the news to my husband tomorrow .........yes, tomorrow. (he keeps asking me if we are *DONE* with the GH) I've been thinking about a pond, and your pic made something go click in my head LOL. I like the conservatory theme too! My entire house is shaded (very shaded) by huge Live oak and Hickory trees, so my GH is "the room" where I can grow all of the plants I always wanted to grow in the house - but couldn't. Your shelves look so nice, and give it a real "plant room" feel. I'd love to see pics again when you are done with the pond. Thanks for posting these. Pat

Shelf supports: 2 2x4's set on edge (8 feet long) supported in a "sandwich" of 2 2x4's 32" high at either end of the HFGH. This brings the great covered grating exactly to standard kitchen counter height. Shelves are easily removed in 2 four foot sections. I used untreated 2x4 because with the plastic drip pans underneath we can let excess water drain off - and I did not want the chemicals in treated wood dripping on any plants we might set below. We have the 2 6' greenhouse benches that HF sells for the 6x8 HFGH as well. They are "spares". Insulation: Exterior panels are simply wedge fit. They have been in daily on/off use for over a month and are working perfect even in 20-30 mph wind. Our HFGH is protected by a Northside 8' fence and the house. Interior insulation. North wall, bottom - wedge fit 4x8 insulatin trimmed to (I think) about 44 inches tall. North wall ceiling - the extra bolts you are instructed to add in some of the Garden web HFGH construction posts are simply popped through the insulation at the ridge rafter. Bolts: The underside of the roof rafters has a track in it. If you ever want to hang plants inside, during construction you need to slide a nut with abolt attached down that channel before assembling the roof rafter to the ridge and side walls. We used 2" x 13/16 eye bolts which will take the hooks from most hanging baskets. These eye bolts are popped through the insulation and turned 90 degrees to the face of it - hold it up fine. Dave mentioned the rubber maid closet shelving - that is what we were going to use! It would have easily been $60 per side and only maybe 18 inches wide and comparativley light weight. We have some heavy over-winter plants that I would never dare "hang" off the HFGH superstructure. The shelves we ended up with are really heavy duty, 28" wide and not dependent on the HFGH for support. I found 28" x 4 foot sections of heavily rubber coated dog kennel grates and matching drip pans. These are designed to go into the bottom of the kennel to keep Rover dry and out of his P n P. Mine are supported end to end by 2x4's on secure legs. 2 sections per side in a 6x8 HFGH gives 18 SF of growing space - enough for probably 14 standard flats. Double that for both sides. Room below for other floor shelving. $100 bucks did both sides of our HFGH, plus our 24 inch extension from the house. These things retail for $50 for the grates alone plus close to $25 for the plastic drip pans. I got mine from a local guy here in Wisconsin that recyles manufacturer's defects - I have no idea whats wrong with them but they work perfect, wont break and cant rust. $25 for the wire rack and drip pan. If someone wants some, I can see what I can unearth - this guy beats to his own drum so no time guarantees - I can warp'em in heavy cardboard and send them FedEx ground which shouldnt be too expensive.
