vineyard: We're on about the same timetable as you, depending on--well, everything. The garage was full before we started this venture, although I do reserve enough space for 1 car in it. I have recently resigned myself to being in moving-mode from now till whenever it is. My great room currently has a sink base cabinet DH made. Not boxed up, so I have wrapped Christmas presents stored inside. I can only access them through the cabinet doors, however. Because there's an ottoman, upside down on top of the cabinet. And for now, on top of the ottoman are wood pieces for the new coffee table DH is working on. The wood has to acclimate to indoor humidity levels or something. Are we having fun yet?

Mine worked. I got a super short one at Target. I have linked one below, but IIRC, mine was even shorter. Maybe the size used for sidelight curtains down the sides of a front door? I've also seen oval shaped instead of round, which I think might work better. As a precaution, I added two of those square peel and stick pads made by 3M, like the Command hooks you can pull off. So if the rod tries to slip down the cabinet wall, the pads give a little resistance. I though, honestly, it might not hold, but it has, and the upper lip of the door provides a good resistance angle to rip the towels across. This is in a 15" cabinet, tho, so no room to slide around. @rr4580 Mine is a full size trash pull-out, 13 gallon can, with paper towel above. The opening for the towel holder is 5.5 x 12. The problem I found is that paper towel rolls have grown in diameter since 2011, so they no longer will go in my holder until they have been partly used. But my holder was very rudimentary, it's one of those metal springy paper towel holders, installed sideways in a recess that would have been a drawer. A better design like firstmmo's could allow a modern roll. There are about two inches from the top of the garbage can to the top of the pull out cabinet face, so you could definitely get another inch there if you are doing custom cabinets.

I was just in a house this past week that had one of those papertowel holders installed. There was another 'holder' installed that held cling-wrap and such. The only thing....I think they were made of aluminum rather than stainless steel, so they were not as neat and spiffy looking as could have been. Still interesting though.
