Name this plant please-PIC

We found this at an old house site but noone has seen it before.

Any one - I need help on this one?

Has small orange flowers, stand about 5 ft tall and has new flowers coming out all down the plant.

It looks like a Leonotis (I have heard the common name Lion's Tail). I'm not sure of the species though.

Lucky you! I've never seen one.

My Florida Wildflowers book says Leonotis nepetifolia is an occasional weed in thickets, barn lots, and pastures throughout Florida and other southeastern states.

GGG, as I said firstly, I didn't know what the plant was so I didn't know how to care for it. It happened nearly a year ago when we stopped for meal at a restaurant on one of our trips along the country, I saw this plant in a big pot, very healthy, with a lot of flowers. So I asked the owner if I could get a plantlet (correct word?). He was very kind so he pulled up a plant, with roots (bulb) and everything, and gave it to me. I took it home, cut off most of its long leaves, and planted it in a pot. I used very porous potting mix (made up of cow manure and good top soil) and placed the pot in a shaddy spot on our deck. I regularly give the plant a small dose of NPK fertilizer and condensed organic pellets every month, alternatively. I water it every day and the soil looks quite moist all the time. Slowly the plant gave out more and more leaves and as you can see now, I even have two more 'baby plants' from the mother. Recently, when I noticed the plant had buds, I moved it to a brighter spot that gets about 6 hrs of sun, including very hot mid-day sun. When I got the plant from the restaurant owner, he said he had had the whole big plant for four years before it bloomed. For me, this is the second time I have it flowers. The first time when I got the plant from the restaurant owner it already got buds. And this time the plant really produces the flower on its own! The blooms smell very nicely and you bet, I'm very happy. First I thought it was 'daffodil' because the blossom looks like it. But now you say Eucharis Lily. That's good for me because now I can research to see how to take care of it more properly. I hope your plant will flower soon, GGG. That's OK. I'm surprised no one said, "I want to name that plant Bob." Or... "I can name that plant in two fruits." So come one guys, you aren't trying! Oh, and TNVG, don't laugh too hard. This is from the same seed stock that I'm sending you. :-) Seriously, how many plants are there with leaves like that? While Dave called it rugrose, and linked the the Leaf FAQ, which says it's RL and "leaf surface is pleated, or wrinkled or bumpy", which doesn't really fit here. Victory seeds defines Rugose as "Wrinkled, usually covered with wrinkles, the venation seeming impressed into the surface." Again, not a match. Finally, Heirloom Vegetable Archives gives this picture of the Ramillete, which is a slightly better fit: Now, looking deeper at the leaves, it does look similar to what I remember my Marianna's Peace leaves looking like, seen here: and here: The problem is that my MP's start out PL and stay PL. This plant looks like it starts RL and changes to PL, or what I call ML. Does this look like the Marianna's Peace plants I have posted to anyone else? Does this look or act like any tomatoes that anyone else has grown (surely someone has... and stop calling me Shirley)? Will Batman finally admit his true feelings to Robin?

Thank you so much for the information. I am going to make another trip over to the old site and get some more. It is something that I have never seen before and don't want to lose my chance at it.

I have Leonotis leonurus growing in my garden and it strikes very easily from a cutting. I would imagine this one would as well.

The "staircase" effect indeed looks like a Leonotis, though I've never seen the seedpods yet. In my zone 6, there's a big clump of them being grown in a small city park by the road size, they look georgeous. They are all still in full bloom still, no sign of seed pods.

Deejaus, could you give me a rough idea of your climate? (Coldest temperatures etc). Reason is, I am wondering is Leonotis (leonurus or nepetifolia) will grow and flower successfully also in hotter climates, eg, equivalent of US zone 10)?

Any insights on this would be most welcome!

I don't think you would have any problem growing either one in Zone 10 USA.

They are drought tolerant plants and comes from a hot region of Africa.

My temperatures range from a Summer high of 40 degrees Celcius to a Winter low of 2 degrees C. approximately.
