I potted up my bare rooted stuff and put it under cover on my back porch. When the weather gets better and the ground actually thaws out so it can be worked I'll transplant my plants.
It's the first time I've done it this way and I think it's going to work out just fine.

Sedums are succulents and I have never had trouble getting my several varieties to start by removing the leaves from the bottom portion of a stem and burying the stripped part. Apply occasional water after they have had a chance to root. Many sedums DO NOT like mulch, it seems to prevent them from spreading and rooting. If you can bare root them and divide them with the roots on, you will have even faster take.

Thanks all. I've potted the bare root sedums, and I've already seen the new growth. I've got them in a greenhouse type environment in my house (Lowe's portable greenhouse), and I'm afraid if I take them outside into 50 degree weather, they may decide they don't want to grow as fast.

I'll probably do something similar with the hostas as well.

Fifty degree weather should be fine for perennials--My tiny peppers (still just cotyledons) and tomatoes go out in 50 degrees!
