I am sure it is similar to the flower towers I make as hanging baskets. I take a piece of 4 inch drain pipe. I drill 1.5 inch holes evenly spaced around it with a hole drill. Then put a cap on one end. I use light weight pvc caps, not schedule 40. They are cheaper. Then I use Al's mix off the Growing in Container forum. I fill up to the first holes, put in flowers, then pack more material in the pipe up to the next holes. I put a heavy gauge wire in for a hanger and you are set. Remember water every other day with at least 1 gallon of water. It takes a while to soak down. It is easier to keep them moist than to try to get them moist after they dry out. I have 2 of them and they are wonderful in a house. I also hung florescent lights on mine but I went a step further and purchased a heat mat for this reason. I love my geraniums. I use a root hormone before "sticking" them in the soil, and I have purchased a heat mat with a thermostat on it for consistent heat. I have to take the cover off when it gets too hot (a small thermometer can be hung in view to monitor the temp of the room and the soil). These can be placed in a garage during the winter if you don't have the space in your house. Or..If you need to keep it outside, get an inexpensive shade cloth at walmart and place over the "greenhouse" and use grow lights on a timer. This keeps the temps cooler during the summer and take it off during the winter but keep the clear plastic on to keep plants warm. A $70 price tag though?? Hmm. Makes me wonder if building it would be cheaper from Lowes. They have this plastic panel with holes that only costs $13 and it is a 48 X 60 and great for making a table. The rest of the wood can come from a construction site for the legs, and such. Consider your options carefully. For me, money is very tight and I lost my job due to cutbacks and war spending.

OK - let's see if I can post a couple pictures. Just now created a photobucket account - here goes: Yippee!!! OK - so this is our slightly smaller 12 x 72 hoop house. This house can hold about 5500 plants - (18 plants per flat). If I didn't need space for my potting bench and heater, we could fit about 6500. Anyway, this is our set up, and you can see that once the benches fill up, the crops under the bench will get minimal sun. Our high tunnel is slightly wider, and will have 6' wide benches the length of the house. I think I'm gonna try to pre sprout some seeds, and stick them in the beds in the HT. I'll see what happens! Thanks for the posts - and JRSlick - for the pictures. Plants are our main focus (being about 80% of our total sales), and we are growing about 30.000 this year! There is no way your set up of using the aisles would work for us, but it may have me rethink my space in my home hoophouse :) You sure are creative though - and have definitely maximized your space! Myfamily - I have a tiny 8X14 hoophouse at home. I also use 40-50 gallon black garbage barrels as the "legs" for my benches. I fill it with water from my fish tank water changes. I also set a 5 gallon jug in my laundry tub, and put the hose from my homes de-humidifier into it. Otherwise - that water would just run down the drain! I get at least 1 jug a day - up to 3 if its really cold and dry, and I am home to keep an eye on the jug when it gets full. The hardest part is then carrying the heavy jugs up the stairs and outside, and dumping them in the greenhouse barrels. Especially when it is snowy and icy (like it has been here all winter!) By the time I need to use my house, the barrels will all be full. Thanks!

73 shirts??!!! WOW! I'm pretty sure my husband and I don't have 73 of anything combined! ;) I do try to purge a minimum of twice a year, and I do rotate hanging clothes into the black hole (well put!) out-of-season. I do like the shelf idea that ShadesOfIdaho posted to my flickr page, though. Maybe I can do shelves on the bottom and hanging clothes over the top? I'm not hanging any ball gowns that require full-height hanging space. It's certainly not the worst house-related problem to have, that's for sure. But it is just odd that they built them this way in every single bedroom. Black Hole or not, the relatively generous closets are the main reason we are still able to live in our small house (no attic, no basement, no garage).
