Easy to grow for me means that the plant will tolerate a range of conditions. Not be bothered by lots of bugs, does not require frequent prunning. For example in my area some Rhodies and Azaleas are not all that easy because they often get lace bugs. This requires regular spraying. Know it can be agrued that if the Rhodie was in the right spot then it would be less likely - which is true. I have three pjm's and that is it. I like to hear what is doing well for others and why. Winter is coming on and it is a good time to think about plants that have worked well and plan for the spring. Thanks for your replies. BTW Tried Physocarpus for first time this year. So far it was easy. See how it does next spring, Also got Hydrangae Pinky Winky - Bloomed nice - but the deer nibbled some of the young brnaches - but that is another dicussion Mike

Vinca Minor Polka dot (I think that's what its called?) Anyway Home Depot usually sells a tray of 18 or 24? dirt cheap and they will fill in fast when it warms up. The flowers are white with red pot. My favorite annual plant and cheap filler plants when you can't avoid expensive perennial plants to fill out rest of bed at the moment. I would have suggested Ducher or Marie pavie roses if you wanted something white. Marie Pavie is thornless rose and can do fine with 4 hours of sun if you didn't know that. I'm a fan of abelia! Smells very nice in the spring when you have enough of them. I am not so fond of regular "glossy" abelia. I think they are ugly. I have Rose Creek and Kaleidoscope and I think they are much better looking ones. Any named cultivars would do fine but not glossy abelia. Nandina.. I have a few... If you want a really unique one - get the yellow berries one from woodlanders website! I'm really more of rose and abelia person so I can't help you with the rest of plants you asked about. I just focus on earthkind roses and old garden roses because they are easy to grow. I tend to plant abelia where the area do not get enough sun for roses (until I found out about Marie Pavie (white)/Marie Daly (pink) roses that can tolerate less sun...
