Can anyone help me ID this rose? Old rose on old homesite.
Comments (17)Your rose looks similar to a rose in the Sacramento Cemetery, our found rose, "Dr Peck's 12th Avenue Smoothie" is thornless, once blooming. Very fragrant. This found rose is thought to be the same as the Charles Lawson in commerce. Below is a link to a photo I took in the cemetery a few years ago. I liked this rose so much that I propagated it and planted it in my yard even though it is a once bloomer. It is quite vigorous and now takes up the back corner along the fence. Comments (1)Downy Mildew. It must have came that way from the garden center. I made a mixture of 1 gallon water, 5tsp baking soda, 5tsp of peroxide and sprayed the plant. I also clipped it down below this and burned clippings. I wanted it bushier than it was anyway....See MoreCan you take a branch cutting from a rose of sharon bush and root
Comments (2)Hi- I know it would seem logical to post that question in this forum, but Rose of Sharon is actually not a member of the rose family- it's a kind of hibiscus. If I recall correctly, that family roots fairly easily from cuttings. But you might want to try one of the other forums to find someone with more direct experience....See MoreHelp! Comments (1)"Hibiscus syriacus" can be very invasive because every blossom when pollinated will produce a seed that will grow into another tree or shrub. If you keep cutting the leaves off these the roots will die off because they will be getting no food, no nutrients, with which to grow. You could spray something but that is, like cutting off the leavs, something you will need to do often, not a one time thing....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
