pond in winter, water lily

I've got a barrel pond. I'm planning to clean it out and sink it in the ground, in full sun, before it gets cold. It has goldfish and a few plants, and a water lily. No filter, I change the water if it looks to need it. I read the fish can be fine if you make sure the water doesn't ice over, and you just let them kind of 'hibernate'. Do I leave the plants in there as well? The lily took a long while to even grow out, and didn't bloom. Did it need a deeper pond or is it too young to bloom? I can bring the plants and fish inside if needed, but I prefer them to stay in their outdoor habitat since it is different than the aquarium would be.

(It is typically filled all the way too)
