Well, despite the fact that gas lines have been run down our road, we are on a flag lot (3 houses down a common drive) and my understanding is that they have no intentions of running it down to us anytime soon ....actually last I heard was something like 7 years. A drawback to country-ish living. Anyhow, my husband bought 2 purple (?night owl or something like that) climbing roses to go over the tank. We bought a sweet autumn clematis to cover the ground in front of and around the side of the tank. I was thinking of growing a clematis with the rose but pruning sounds like a nightmare if they didn't share the exact same needs and to be honest I have no idea how to take care of these roses we just bought. I do think in 3 years we will have the prettiest propane tank in town!! I actually have no idea if I'm allowed to plant on it...I'll make sure to keep the valves and pipes free of plant. I'm sure they'll let me know if I can't. Thanks for the advice! Lyn

AGA Legacy is dual fuel only. Electric oven and gas(or propane) stovetop. Blue Star only makes all gas(or propane) ranges not dual fuel. Relative to 100 gallon propane tank the difference between 22k btu and 15btu or 7k btu is miniscule and irrelevant. You can always turn down the Super Nova burner down to 15k btu but you can't turn up the Legacy burner up to 22k btu. Nobody "NEEDS" a Bluestar nor an AGA Legacy. Our grandmonthers managed to feed our families on 8-10k btu burners. 22k BTU burners can be very useful for techniques other than stir-frying. Sautéing, searing, grilling, boiling large amounts of water, and quicker recover times. Dropping cold food into hot pans lowers the temperature of the oil and/or pan. Deep frying for example. If you have oil at ideal 350 degrees and you drop cold chicken the temp of the oil drops and you are no longer "deep frying " but paraboiling. Instead of crisping the exterior the oil is seeping deep into the chicken meat. Gross. Powerful 22k btu burners help you to quickly get back up to 350. In addition there is the differences in the evenness of heat between a traditional open burner and a sealed burner like the AGA Legacy. With sealed burners it will be hotter around the edges of the pan while open burners are a lot more even across the pan. Cheaper options? American Range Performer Series(an open burner range made in Southern California) 36" starts at $5k and Bluestar makes the RCS with max 15k btu burners. Cheaper you start looking at Mexican and Chinese made ranges like the Chinese NXR at $3200 for 36" propane model. A local Richmond, Va TV station recently did an expose on this industry. As it seems in the South Propane Dealers are NOT REGULATED in terms of home much they charge, what delivery fees are or what proper business practices & policies should be. This is why they get away with locking you in. Charging you more if you are not "their" customer and putting you on a minimum purchase required plan. It is all done in the name of their profits not yours. Personally after I found out I could buy my own 500 gal tank for 1500 & get my excavator to bury it. Pay a plumber who was a gasfitter to run the line to my house & fireplace & generator . I decided it was cheaper to do it myself & contract the jobs. Their charge would have been 5500. Then I would also be locked in to purchase my fuel only from them. Thats a bunch of crapola. Saved 3 Grand doing it my way. My excavator charged me only $200 to bury it & the plumber charged 800 for the line & the fittings. Their is very little required maintenace for this tanks. Don't let them pull that ruse on you!!!!. I am beginning to think really subtle camo - using the Dijon mustard tone for the top, and for the "face" that faces the road. No need to repaint everything! (Just about everyone on FB wants me to go Yellow Submarine -- and while that has a charm, it might just be a bit too cliched...) Adding little bits of creative interest in the camo parts at the bottom of either side of the tank is something I'm mentally toying with... AND, playing with the bushes, shrubbery and trellis will work there. For those who wonder, the yard does not yet have much in the way of whimsy -- right now the house is in the final stages of construction, so a lot of potential in several directions. I have several attractive rocks (New England!) the builders unearthed to set around while the equipment to move these is available. There is also an old abandoned rusty wagon wheel that I want to put somewhere. I can't move it myself, and it IS sitting in a patch of poison ivy. There will eventually be a chicken house and a chicken tractor. So, decor will also be "farm".
