Let's see your Fothergillas!
Comments (10)Thank you for all of those great pictures! Very helpful, and I did end up buying Fothergilla Blue Shadow....the foliage color is stunning. My concern is that I'd read on a number of blogs that it gets to about 4' and that it's shorter than Mt Airy. I believe the tag said 4-5 feet also. Now, I'm reading 6', which is too tall for my bed. I like shrubs with the natural look and only trim out deadwood, etc, to keep them nice looking. Does anyone have a Fothergilla Blue Shadow that actually reached 6 feet? Wendy...my house is the same color, so it should look nice there! Tsugajunkie, that is a stunning picture! So happy to be in the "Fothergilla Club" now!...See MoreFothergilla Major Mt. Airy
Comments (18)You know, I have been gardening for more than 15 years, and to my knowledge I've never had a rabbit eat anything in my garden. If they did, I sure didn't notice. Voles/moles eat hostas here like they're going out of style, and squirrels might dig up your bulbs and eat them. I see rabbits once in a while, but I never have seen them munching out on anyone's plants, nor have I heard other gardeners mention it. I notice the ones of you who are bringing up the squirrels' fondness for this plant are in zones 4 and 5. I wonder if your rabbits' appetites are a reflection of the lack of any kind of food source for a long time with your much harsher winters? I'm just curious. As I said, this has never been a problem for me, but it seems to be a huge concern for some, and it makes me wonder what the difference is? *Of course, now that I've said that, an enormous herd of crazed rabbits will invade my neighborhood this winter and eat everything I've planted to the ground. :p...See MoreBiggest best blue/green

Comments (8)Thank you everyone. I do not have a photo. But looking at the photo that is posted, mine looks nothing like that. It is in deep shade, with just just some dappled sunlight. But it is all blue. Not a bit of variegation at all, and my plant looks bigger than the one in the photo. :( But I will be patient. I just don't want to wait years to find out I have the wrong plant. And it was the hosta I couldn't live without this year, and I don't think I have it. Though I have got a lot of other beautiful ones....See Moreplvanslyke_gmail_com
