Name That Plant!

please help identify mystery tree

I thought I planted bay laurel seeds. Indeed the first 6 or 8 months it couldda been bay laurel. But late this summer it took off and leaf shape changed...so NOT bay laurel! Well, it's pretty, but what the heck is it??? Sorry for the strawberries in the background.

Hard to see from the small picture but it could be Hedera helix, Ivy. Bay and ivy both have black berries so maybe that's where the confusion came from.

Probably Sapium sebiferum, in which case you should destroy it.

Not a doubt in my mind with the supporting photographic evidence that it is knotweed. I would have come to the exact same conclusion just based on your description - the rapid spring growth; the hollow, bamboo-like stems and even the coloring are all classic attributes of this pernicious weed.

This is a North American native plant. In the right place, like at the back of a border, it is absolutely stunning. It is a good wildlife plant -- birds were how this it was probably planted to begin with. Flower bud on mysterious palm tree- help me identify

The tree is from near West palm Beach, FL. I got it on 6 months ago when we were on a trip there. It is not a store bought plant. I looked at the Dracena family- I can see the similarities. But mine has such thick trunk for such little height, not very typical for dracena. Thank you. Do you think the cocoon is a flower bud or is it a new branch coming out? Thanks.
