climbing rose on evergreen shrub

growing climbing rose on evergreen shrubs (having the rose in a pot beside the evergreen shrub so once it starts growing it grows or climbs up the shrub) instead of a fence or a wall or w-ever has anyone done this before are there any bugs in particular i should be worried about that might be around evergreen shrubs and find its way to the rose leaves There is a ton of mosquito's around the shrubs during summer time

Bugs, etc. are local issues - what state or place are you in?

I have not done this with a potted rose, but I have grown Madame Alfred Carriere 25 feet up an evergreen pine tree - I never do anything to it except give it a bit of water in our summer drought, and once a year I throw osmocote at the base. It climbed all the way up there by itself - my plan was that it was going to climb on the garage, but as soon as it got up to the garage roof it took off over the neighbor's fence and up his pine tree. Looks fantastic, and has for 15 years - if it has any problems they are not visible from below, and I am NOT climbing up there to look for any!

Any kind of juniper might work, depending on the shade level. I've got some planted on the east side of my house, getting sun only in the mornings, growing well. Juniper comes in many shapes/sizes/colors, and deer don't touch it.

I also grew MAC against a huge Yew, and it worked out great because in the winter I would pot the canes into the bush-great winter protection.
