parrots feather and water celery

I love this forum-did a search on what to do with string algae once you've pulled it out of the pond.I have very clear water in my pond but string algae tends to accumulate around the parrots feather and water lilies making it look like pond scum. It is easy to pull it out but tends to be a daily task at times during the summer. I prefer to not use chemicals.

Now that fall is just about here, I am wondering if I should pull the parrots feather out of my pond I know it will be back. Is it best to pull out somewhat invasive things like this and water celery. It will die back in our frigid winters. Water celery is all over my rock walls-should I pull alot of it out or cut it back or do nothing.
