best way to add water?
Comments (12)Products to treat your pond aren't that expensive and why risk your fish even if they weren't expensive. I gave my daughter two small goldfish and a 10 gal tank for my grandson. She did a water change 20% but didn't read the instructions on the dechlorinator/dechloramine I gave her. She should have used a teaspoon but only used a couple of drops because she thought she didn't change out that much water. Right after doing the water change the fish sat on the bottom of the tank. The next morning they were dead. Our water here is treated with both chlorine and chloramine. I use my sc for water changes as can shut it down and fill, treat with Prime then run again. The water system here was changed out two years ago to both chlorine/chloramine--previous only treated with chlorine. Within a month over 25% of the households in town had to replace their hot water tanks--something with the new chemicals blew alot of tanks--mine included so who knows what else is in there. I also use koi clay which is supposed to remove harmful metals in the water....See MoreBest way to level concrete floor
Comments (2)Tough call, if its me, I try grinding that area to lower that rise down to 1/4 in over the 2-3 feet. Since the area is small, I would use an angle grinder with a concrete plate, its very dusty, so be prepared, and use a vac if possible. In my experience with self leveler, it works wonders, but still requires a tad bit of grinding once set up to smooth it out. also seal that crack, and check the moisture reading on the concrete. nows the time to find out if theres moisture issues, before you lay down an expensive floor....See Moreleveling drop in a sloped backyard ..and topsoil ,sod advice
Comments (5)The question still remains to be answered: what do you intend to do with this leveled portion? If just using it to plant a lawn, then leveling is unnecessary. And could be prohibitively expensive to level anyway. Have you thought of how the grade change will be addressed once the area you wish to level is leveled ? I assume that is a golf course the property abuts so some delineation - like a retaining wall - will likely be necessary...See MoreBest way to use self-leveling underlayment on half of a room?
Comments (3)Self-Leveling compound (SLC) is not self leveling and it has MINIMUM and MAXIMUM THICKNESSES. If you push the boundary too far one way or the other (too thick or two thin) you will have a crumbly mess. You need to measure how much "dip" occurs over how much "distance". It is something that would read something like: 3/8" over 4 feet. Something like that. Then you (because you are DIYing this) have to figure out if that fits into the category of "feathering compound" or "SLC". Which means you need to learn AAAAAALLLL about BOTH compounds to figure out which one works for your measurements. And then you have to find which BRAND makes the RIGHT product for your substrate...and on and on and on. Whew. The building pros will ask you why you don't shim the space and add another layer of plywood over the shims. It will be faster and easier and less costly. But you have to know how to shim a wood substrate....See Moredelaney276
