pond on a slope....
Comments (4)We have the most beautiful set of ponds in a neighbors yard. It is on a similar hillside. They put the ponds on the shelf areas and then waterfall/streams connecting them. The top pond didn't have a shelf area so they sculpted out a flat area for the pond. It look very natural. They of course pump the water from the lowest pond up to the top pond. They have 3 ponds with 2 waterfall/streams connecting them. Two ponds have lots of plants and the largest one has fish....See Moresloping land - can it be made level?
Comments (16)Here's a pic of the front. You can see the house sits higher than the street, and the land also slopes to the right. Now try to visualize this photo with everything flat - no stone retaining walls, no stairs going up on the paver walkway, etc. To me that would be much less visually interesting. Here's a photo of the back, where the land was leveled quite a bit but some slope still exists. You can see the step up from the eating area up to the pool, then another step up to the gazebo. The steps and change in elevation again add a lot of visual interest imho. The grassy area is pretty flat though, to give the kids a place to run around and play....See MoreWhat rope moulding(slant) do you like best?
Comments (8)I'm with SaraKat that these are the decisions that can just wear you down in the end, lol. I'm glad I didn't know about some of the things I now know about when we did our reno. It was so much easier that way. :) [Me: Can you put some thin rope molding on the fascia below the crown? Cabinet Maker: yep, sure can. Me: okay, good.] That said, I just looked at ours and I see what your guy means about it being easier to cut a perfect miter with a left+right pair. But honestly, you'd need a magnifying glass to get up that close to see the difference in real life. Here is ours: I can tell the difference now that I'm looking for it and I zoom into the picture up close. But I can't tell the difference with the naked eye from room level. You will be totally fine with all one slant direction. Good luck and have fun with your remodel....See MoreBest way to level concrete floor
Comments (2)Tough call, if its me, I try grinding that area to lower that rise down to 1/4 in over the 2-3 feet. Since the area is small, I would use an angle grinder with a concrete plate, its very dusty, so be prepared, and use a vac if possible. In my experience with self leveler, it works wonders, but still requires a tad bit of grinding once set up to smooth it out. also seal that crack, and check the moisture reading on the concrete. nows the time to find out if theres moisture issues, before you lay down an expensive floor....See Moredelaney276
